Title: High Wycombe Date Confirmed
Post by: Terbs on 02 April 2012, 16:33:18
Hi all.

I can now confirm that the High Wycombe meet will be on May 7th Bank Holiday Monday
Address is....Hazlemere Community Centre, Rose Avenue, Hazlemere, High Wycombe, Bucks HP15 7UB
Access from M1, M25, M40 is easy. Our car park is fully tarmac and can accomodate 60+ vehicles..if you get my drift ;)

We should have exclusive use of the Centre and carpark as last year. Gazebo/s available for certain repairs if the weather is poor. I expect, if the turnout is as good as the last two meetings, there will be trolley jacks, ramps, axle stands, spanners and sockets available, but please, no big oil drops !! Hopefully Tech 2's readings available.
Swmbo will be on duty for Bacon/Sausage rolls, etc. Tea and Coffee, and I will open the bar. BBQ if anyone wants it. Pool table available
Indian, Fish and Chips and Chinese takeaways close by, and a new Domino's takeaway pizza place has also just opened.

I will be on site from 11.00am...lets hope a good turnout

I would appreciate a response if you are likely to come so we can estimate rolls/bacon/sausages etc :y

Is it possible to get a contact number, I know some people are funny about giving their numbers out but its just the last time i drove to a OOF meet i got a little lost and i could'nt find it, so i ended up driving a long way for nothing, so i dont really want to do that again as i would like to go to a OOF meet  :)

Never trust a cabbie to know where they're going ::) besides everyone knows that if you turn right once, then left three times then right again you'll always end up where you started :P

The starting point in this case happened to be back in Winchester rather than where we actually started :-[ :-X

I'm awful with faces.  To me, a new person's face has no features.  I discussed this with my best mate, and he suffers similar. We reckon it may be all those years of visiting customers' homes.

Opposite problem here. I can always remember a face. It's remembering the name that goes with it and where the break I saw it before that gets embarrassing. ::)

This is THE meet to come too,Chris and Tony pull out all the stops to make every one welcome, also I think there's a Premier Inn not to far away and they do a reasonable room rate, last year it was £29 and a few members stayed there the night before the meet, the plan is to do the same this year and then perhaps meet up for a meal then off to try some of the local falling down water  ;) :y

May years ago, when working for (what was then) British Telecom, I went into a customer's house, had chatted too her about the phone problem, had gone upstairs into the master bedroom and was taking the socket apart when she said "<my name>", which sent a chill down my spine, how did she know my name, "you don't remember me?". This last bit sent a bigger chiver down my spine, as I then reconised the voice...  ...my primary school 2nd year (year 5 in modern language) teacher, who, how can I put it, lets just say at school I wasn't the best pupil in the class.

I had held a 2 or 3 minute conversation in the hallway with her, eye to eye contact, and not reconised her until she said  :-[

Mrs Terbert is doing Salad Rolls, Sausages in rolls, plus onions etc as other additives. Probably get some bacon too. We have found out how the big oven works now so can cook quickly. Basically everything as previous meets. :y
If weather is good ( and the man on Magic just now said it could be ok ) we can have the BBQ if you want it. :y

As we have exclusive use, people can get takeaways to eat in, or get Pizza's delivered from Dominoes.
The world is our oyster. ;)

If the BBC are to be believed, rain is not forecast until around 4pm on Monday although it's gonna be a bit chily at 10° C.

If anybody is bringing a set of spring compressors and is up for it, I'd like to change the springs on the Beemer to help reduce the garage bill I have coming to me on Tuesday.
Naturally it would be nice to get all 4 springs done in one go, but if we could at least get the rears done that would shave an hour off the bill for me (book time for both the front springs is 2 hours).

I'll be bringing the following:

Myself
Small selection of hand tools inc trolley jack & 6 ton axle stands
Laptop
Portable hard drive filled to the gunnels with popular software
Blank CD's & DVD's
Red meat (if BBQ is on)
Ritalin (to stop me getting carried away)
Tramadol (to mask the pain from my bowel op)

I'm sure I'll think of more later on, but that's about it for now.

I'm sure I'll think of more later on, but that's about it for now.

thought this was an omega meet???.......

gayboyGixer raises a valid point. Is Mrs Terbert doing rolls, or is BBQ coming out?  Just need to know what to bring - money or pig ;D

The last 3 series rear springs I changed were a doddle... Drop the bottom shock mount and they will fall out without lowering the diff ;)

Hopefully yours will be as easy :y

Does anyone have a tool to pull the stereo out? The display doesn't always work so i thought i would check the rear connections.
Also would appreciate if someone tried to lift my rear blind whilst i press the button as it just clicks now :'( Thanks

No. I meant proper beemer, as in 20+ years old, not the junk they make now

M3's still good though, if i ever went two door, would be a contender, along with a Monaro. Beemer would prob hold its value better

That's pretty much what the Youtube vids show, and the only possible problem I can foresee is if the bottom shock mount is secured by the "ba$tard" bolt. Official book time for both sides is 0.95, which would also indicate it is a pretty simple job (famous last words  ;D )

Funny you should say that.
I got a tug yesterday as the Beemer wasn't showing as insured on the MID and the copper asked if I knew why he had stopped me.
I went through a list of possibles (drifted slightly over speed limit, brake light out, etc) and the copper replied (with a deadpan straight face) "Your indicators appear to work sir"  ;D

It made a nice change to encounter a plod who had a sense of humour and wasn't up his own ar$e, and once he confirmed that I did have insurance I was on my merry way with no problems (or tickets).

Not an M3, just an M-Sport (sometimes known as M-Tech).
The M-Sport pack consists of gearstick, steering wheel, lowered & stiffened suspension, full (colour coded) body kit, bigger wheels/tyres, slightly tuned motor, and a few other little odds & sods.

A quick look on Autotrader & the Bay shows the average price to still be around the £1300 mark for the same model as mine, although not one of them had done less than 100K and they all had multiple previous owners (ours is one former owner, full BMW history, and a proveable 50K on the clock).
You'll get to see it on Sunday morning anyway  ;)

I live local to it and have a pass so try and go when it is not so busy, otherwise it would completely do my nut in with queueing times and shortness of rides. The silly thing is in my day going there would be a major league treat yet it seems par for the course for kids now and a trip to the park for them is more of a novelty. Forgive me if I missed it, what time does it start tomorrow?

On very first post Terbert says he will be on site from 11am onwards.  :y

Regards
Alan

Yes...I put 11.00am, because there is a Zumba class on in the main hall from 9.30am till 10.30am. I knew you would not want to watch a load of bums and boobs in leotards etc writhing around to disco music, plus they should be clear of the car park by 11.00am :y

I will be there long before that in reality, should anyones timing be a bit out, so no probs :y

Unfortunately it looks unlikely I'll be able to come over for this :( I wanted to but it's hard to justify coming down there tomorrow and then again 3 days later ::)

Have a great day guys (and gals) and if I have a change of heart in the morning I'll jump in the car! :y :y

Yes, big thanks for setting up the meet. Was very nice to put some faces to names, even if I cannot remember which face fits which alias or real name! If you need any contributions to costs then let us know and we'll arrange a bank transfer.

Thanks also to Rob(?!) for showing up in his Monaro. What a lovely machine, although the tyre lifetime came as a bit of a shock.

All the best all,

J.

gutted i couldn't be there,   in the middle of a job,  client insurance paid studio rebuild after a burst pipe , with a completion deadline of 2pm this thursday , couldn't risk taking the day off.    in fact haven't had a day off for 2.5 weeks.

be a nice pay day if i finish on time ,   (but penalties if late....  as there are sessions booked starting at 2pm thursday....  which i get to cover the lost turnover on if we're late)

currently knocking up 18 hour days and i'm knackered.

Sorry for late response - last 10 miles or so coming home was 'a tad moist', and I had to go slow, so didn't get in until midnight.

Huge thanks to terbert and Mrs terbert, its an excellent venue, and we're lucky to be able to occasionally use it.  Of course it would be nice if terbert could arrange a meet on a day when it was dry  :P ;D ;D

Another thoroughly enjoyable day, and great to see a few new faces, although with familiar ones - thanks everyone for making the effort to come :y

You don't need to tell me that. :o My @rse was sore this morning from all the buttock clenching. Got in at about 12:20. Realised I'd done Newbury to Four Marks the twisty way in 30 minutes in the wet. :-[

Got up this morning to a half decent gliding forecast. bu66er. I'm going to have to go. Couple of hours of scratching around in weak thermals then a long winch driving shift then dinner. Got in about an hour ago. I'm about to drop.

Anyway, Thanks echoed for another great meet, as we've come to expect. :y
