There does not seem to be an awful lot of roof racks available for the saloon , most seem to be for the roof rail/estate attachment  :(  Wonder if a universal one would suit  :-\

Indeed. My last one was £20 or £30 from somebody here, not that I've used it yet ;D.  The previous one I lost with the garage had plenty of use, and if you could tolerate the whistle, was fine at very high speeds, even with a roofbox mounted.

Only want it for occasional trips for transporting ladders  :( Anyone used those pad things that lay on the roof and strap inside the car ?

I've been using a set of universal Halfords budget roof bars on my FL saloon for years.  I think they cost something like £19.99, fix nice and solid, and havn't damaged the car.  :y

It's this one, but gone up in price somewhat!  :(   Still I've been using mine for 6 or 7 years so I reckon it qualifies for a recommendation!  :y

I guess it depends on the definition of very high speed, but it was noisier than rear windows open...
