Quick question, was removing the alarm indicator relay this evening and saw this other white relay (Bottom left in photo).

I was wondering what it was for as did it have time to have a proper look. I know red is servotronic (not installed on my car), grey relay is now sitting on my living room table.

You are right, it would. I would simply take the part number and put in the parts catalogue and it would give me the answer.

However, I was doing this quickly in the dark before the rain started so was more interested in more important things like not getting soaked and missing something in the dark.

Hence also why the photo was from an file picture off this forum.

But, don’t worry, you do not know the answer, that is fine. When I replace the other relay I will find out and make sure not to tell anyone either.

Some of these relays move around depending on year.

For some reason I have it in my head its related to alarm/indicators, but I also know on 1998/99 cars with telephone prewiring, there is an isolating transformer somewhere in that area.  Sadly, my memory can't be more precise, and TIS only shows later cars that lack that relay socket

And we wonder why people leave this forum.

Someone asks an honest question with a valid reason after searching the forum archives to no avail.

Long-term member gives what is perceived by others as dismissive and / or arrogant.

OP then replies with a reply along the lines of “if you are going to be like that, don’t bother”.

More people then turn it into a what can be again perceived by people not knowing otherwise to be sarcastic replies.

Disillusioned members then leave. Number of members drops, forum eventually closes.

Sound like anything above?

So, as I said before, when Ali next go back to that area of the case, I will look and find out what it does. I won’t bother to pass this information on as people blatantly do not seem interested and life will continue.

Identifying a relay from a picture that isn't of the actual car in question is a moot point, there are several relays that it might be depending on the spec and age of the car.

On one of mine that relay was the hazard flasher, on others it may be the consumer relay, or the auto box or the glow plugs etc, etc. Vauxhall helpfully moved a selection of relays around during production, some cars have more relays in that location some less.

If you can get a hand up there you can get a picture of the top of it, (if you don't want to remove it, although that might be the easiest thing).

But the way you phrased the question suggested that you didn't/couldn't/wouldn't do either of these things (because it was raining' prefering to ask here using a generic picture of another car (spec unknown).

I'm sorry that you found my answer unhelpful, but the alternative is to guess, which would actually be of less use.
