Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Windscreen Wiper Problem
« on: 23 June 2009, 19:20:00 »
I've had a problem with the windscreen wipers on my 2.6 CDX for some months now. The intermittent wash wipe doesn't work (only washes - doesn't wipe) and the wipers do not self park at all in any setting.
Changed the wiper motor and mechanism but same fault exists.
Any ideas anyone? I can't find a wiring diagram for this model anywhere.

Thanks

Dave

Hi,

I have a NCDC 2013 in my Elite and want to move the Parrot Bluetooth kit from my CDX. When I installed the Parrot in the CDX I used the mute and audio inputs which are normally used by the Trafficmaster system.

Before I pull out the NCDC2013 from the Elite it would be useful to know whether these inputs can still be used on this model - do they exists or are they used for something else? Alternatively, is there a better way of connecting my phone into the NCDC?

Thanks in advance.

Dave.

Hi,

Treated myself to a new mobile phone carkit today - Parrot CK3200LS - Thought all I had to do was reach up behind the glove box, pull out the wiring harness and splice a few wires.  :(

Removed the kick plate from under the glove box and a bunch of wires dropped out - not the harness I was looking for but a bit of a botch job the previous owner has had done to install a carkit previously (probably paid good money for it). So decided to remove these from their connections behind the radio because they would probably be scotchlok's.

Got the radio removal tools out, removed the 4 grub screws, inserted removal tools, pulled, wiggled, pulled some more... nothin. Removed all the switches arond the unit to give me something to grip - heave - knee on the dashboard stuff - nowt.

Been at it for almost 2 hours now and the bu88er aint for coming out.

Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Headlamp Range fault on Xenon's
« on: 02 May 2010, 23:30:34 »
Got the dreaded "Headlamp Range" warning coming on and my MOT is due. Tested sensor on nearside suspension and works fine but only operates one headlamp (offside).

Do the servo's fail often on these? This is the first problem I've had with headlamp servo's - or will it just need a clean and a bit of lub?

Omega General Help / Broken Rear Spring
« on: 16 January 2010, 17:33:42 »
Just broken a rear spring on my 3.2 Elite due to driving on rutted ice in freezing temperatures. Problem is I cant find a replacement anywhere - all the parts listed seem to be for models without self levelling suspension. Are the springs really that different?

Any ideas where I can get replacements or is a visit to the stealers?

Noticed a strange whining noise from engine compartment on my 2.6 V6 today - seems to be coming from the aircon compressor. Also notice that the aircon is not chilling anymore. All connections to compressor and all aircon lines and hoses seem OK and no sign of leaks. Is it possible for these systems to run dry? Is this easy to reolve with jsut a recharge? If so, does it have to be done at a stealers or can I take it to a so called "specialist"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated  :y

Omega General Help / Engine falters at 4000 rpm
« on: 26 March 2008, 15:44:45 »
Strange one this...

My 2.5 V6 has been sitting in the driveway for a few weeks with hardly any use. I took it for a spin today and discovered I can't accelarate past 4000 revs - bit of a problem when trying to overtake! When I get to 4000 rpm the engine seems to jerk violently and the EMS light flashes. It's worse if in sport mode.

I thought it may have been a fuel pick up problem as the tank was quite low but Ive ran a paper clip test and get the following results:-

019 - Incorrect RPM Signal

059 - Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage Low

I suspect the 059 may be an old reading from when I changed the head gaskets and forgot to connect the rear multiram connector - but maybe not?

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Omega General Help / Anyone one know what this is...?
« on: 06 January 2008, 19:07:30 »
Just finished replacing the cam cover gaskets, cleaning breathers etc...

Yeah I know I started this weeks ago but what with Christmas in between and the 3 days of oblivion at new year etc..

Anyway, I have found a left over o-ring on the workbench - it must be off something - either the intake bridge / plenum / any other bits I dismatled over the past 2 weeks. It is quite distinctive because it's green and about the size of a one pence coin but I have no idea where it should go.  :-/

Anybody help?

Omega General Help / Breather Problems
« on: 09 December 2007, 18:18:29 »
Decided to do the breathers on my 2.5 V6 today. It doesnt look like these have ever been done. Breather hoses are totally blocked to the point that I may just replace them rather than try to unblock them but the main problem was this....

I guess my spark plugs are in there somewhere!!!

I'll be off to the stealers to get some new gaskets and spark plugs tomorrow! Anybody know how to get the oil out of there before I replace the plugs?

Plenty of crud in the plenum too!

By the way.. this car was running sweet as a nut! I had no idea it was in this mess. I'm surprised it was running at all!

Omega General Help / Aaarrrggghh!! Oil filter disaster on 2.6
« on: 17 October 2007, 12:41:50 »
To say I was pi55ed off would be an understatement.

Went out this morning to do a "quick" oil and filter change on my 2.6 V6. I've only had the car a few weeks so this was the first time I'd done it on this one. I've changed the oil several times on the 2.5 so I didnt expect any problems. All was going well until I tried to get the filter housing off. Now these things are only supposed to be torqued to wither 15 or 25 Nm - depending on whather you believe the can itself or the TIS. However this one is rock solid.

There isnt much room for leverage with a ratchet but even so that didnt budge it. I finally got a breaker bar onto it but it still wont move and to make matters worse the oil filter housing has now split with the force I have applied and oil is pi55ing out everywhere... but still it wont come off! >:(

Any suggestions??

Omega General Help / Rear Brake Pad Fitting Kit??
« on: 13 July 2007, 16:35:18 »
Hi Guys,

Changing discs and pads all round on the Meega at the moment but the pads don't seem to come with a fitting kit - i.e. new pins and springs to hold them in position.

I have two makes of pads - mintex and ATE - but neither comes with new pins and springs. None of the parts companies around here have them and the vauxhall dealer doesnt have them either.

Any idea where I can get them?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Diagnostic Connector / OBD2 Scanner
« on: 17 April 2007, 20:49:27 »
Hi,

Just treated myself to this OBD2/CAN Scanner. (£65 on ebay)

It works a treat on SWMBO's MGTF but I can't it to read anything from the Meega. I read somewhere that the diagnostic port is sometimes pinned-out differently on the Omega. Is this the case? If so, can somebody tell me what the pin-out is or should be?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Oil Filter Housing Cover Torque Setting
« on: 16 April 2007, 22:56:12 »
Hi Guys,

Can anybody confirm what the torque setting should be used to tighten the cover on the oil filter housing (paper filter type)?

Changing my oil (and filters) at 2000 mile intervals at the moment as it looked like the oil hadnt been changed since the car was built (dealer serviced). But at the weekend I noticed that the cover on the oil filter housing is very clearly marked with a torque setting - 15Nm.  :-?  Strange, I thought - I'm sure the manual I read last time said 25Nm.

Needless to say I torqued it to the setting on the cover - 15Nm. Result - Oil and blue smoke everywhere!  :-[

15Nm is little more than hand tight - and a very slippy oil covered hand at that. Now cranked up to 25Nm - no leaks.  :y

I'm off to halfrauds in the morning to buy some Gunk driveway cleaner... :-/

Omega General Help / Beam Level Sensor
« on: 12 April 2007, 22:41:49 »
Hi.

Need some info on the suspension level sensor which also defines the headlamp beam level. The front sensor is located on the nearside wishbone. It consists of a couple of hinged rods which connect to a cam on the sensor itself. As the suspension varies due to load it causes the cam to rotate. My question is this.. Is the cam suppose to be separate from the sensor body. The cam on my one seems to pop out of the sensor body every couple of days. It pops back in easily enough but its a nuisance having to keep putting it back together. Is there a way that these clip together permanently? Or is there a clip of some kind that's missing.

If its knackered, does anyone have a clue on cost of replacement? Also do the push rods come with sensor or are they separate.

Looks like it could be a barsteward to replace. All the screw are rusted solid.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Omega General Help / HBV Vacuum pipe - HELP
« on: 25 February 2007, 13:36:31 »
Hi

I need a favour. Can anybody tell me where the vacuum pipe which connects to the Heater bypass valve (2.5 V6 facelift) comes from?

Ive just replace the HBV and got everything connected up but it looks like the other end of the vacuum pipe has become disconnected with all the fiddling about.

I cant see where it came from and could use some help. Can anybody tell me where it should go? A pic would be great!

Thanks

Dave
