This is a nice car, but personally I would be more impressed by a Cortina Mk2 1600E.  8) 8) 8) :-* :-* :-* :-*

That is THE Ford car to have from the 1960s and wouldn't cost £80K!

PS  .....and here is one for sale in the colour I love for these cars:

I think the Alan Mann racing colours are stunning.
I was in speaking to the owner of our only paint / body shop recently and spied a really forlorn early mk1 pre airflow 2 door GT Cortina sitting in his workshop. He told me he had bought it and was going to restore it . It was really period right down to the Karobes contoured seat covers ........The car was intact and quite solid but had been sitting in a dry barn or shed for decades.
Later I was talking to a friend who told me that the car had been bought for €6000 from the estate of a farmer who had passed away. I baulked at the sum of €6K and said he was mad , until I looked at the market prices for them . This is one of the very earliest GT's with the rev counter off the steering column .

Nice car, but OTT on the price imo, however, as we know, the value of a car is what ever someone is prepared to pay....... :y

If I had the money I would be buying a MK2 Savage Estate for sale for £25k, and about 60 Migs with the change........ :D :D :y A friend of mine had a MK 2 Savage saloon back in 1970 talking with him the other night about it ,when we got in from the pub we put the reg number HTF 12F into the DVLA site & to our suprise it is still around, lovely car it was would be great to see it again.

^^ This.

I appreciate old cars.  I appreciate old cars in Museums.  I appreciate old cars on the road.

Real world [for what I want]......... Compared to modern cars, the old stuff is rubbish.

Yes, that's the thing. They evoke lots of nostalgia, and we all like to see them around, but cars of that era really were a load of old cr@p, especially Fords, and especially in original roadgoing spec. In some respects, it would be nice to have one that'd been properly "tricked up" but still had the classic looks, but when their value is so high, do you really want to start modifying it? Only other option is to buy one that's already in a more interesting spec., but that'll probably have racing heritage and be even more valuable. :-\
