My XFR does, but I note from the original sale invoice it was a £165 option.

F*uckers. :-\

Yep, and you have to have a raised boot floor to have one on the XE which cuts the luggage space down.

On a car with pretty much the same footprint as an Omega, it's amazing how much less usable space it has. Good job it's so grin-inducing to drive. :D

Replacement powersounder acquired and fitted.

A nice 15 minute job between showers.

For the Omega?

That should produce a nice warming blaze. ;)
I hope not, I've put it in the wheel arch :D
Ah, a Zafira then. A far better choice than any Stuttgart Taxi built in the last 30 years :)

<Yesterday, actually.>

Tried to start the kit car to drive home form work and it started to turn over then there was a fizzing noise and a smell of sulphur and all the leccy disappeared.  :'( Took a bulb out of the fog light and used it and a random bit of wire to diagnose the issue. Quickly realised that the battery had suffered a sudden and terminal failure.

Phoned Mrs. KW, who said she'd pop over in the Jag with some jump leads rather than wait for Green Flag.

Mrs. KW gets forced off the road by a disciple of Onan in a French shitbox, bursting a tyre. XE doesn't have a spare tyre.* >:(

So, double "wait for recovery truck" comedy ensues. Guy turns up to me in a van only, jump starts it (took 2 packs in parallel), pronounces battery dead so drive home without stalling it is.

Road closed, so end up taking the XC route and getting lost. Green flag app which I'd unsuccessfully tried to install to summon recovery appears to have borked my phone so no sat nav. So, multiple turns down multiple blind alleys and farm tracks all negotiated without stalling. >:(

Meanwhile, AA turn up to assist Emma only to find they don't have a temporary wheel to fit the XE, so now awaiting mobile tyre fitting guy.

Finally both got home at 9 PM. :D

Out of hours tyre fitting charge is approximately the same as the cost of a spare wheel**. False economy, Tata. :y

*- technically, it has a spare alloy in the garage which I've not yet got round to fitting a tyre and pressure monitor to. :-[
** - Bot not from a Jag dealer, naturally.

It might not be able to seat seven dwarves, but at least it can top a ton/corner/hit 60 in less than a bank holiday weekend/seat five full sized adults/rwd.

I'll wager that it was cheaper to buy too :D

I've actually sat in the back of the Zafira, and its roomy enough and comfortable enough. And my 84yr old mum can get in and out with ease.

Not that I am in any way defending Zafiras. No chance of that ever happening.  But for all its failings, and it has many, its 2 back dinky seats are not one of them :)

To buy and fix (though not convinced it is fixed, but it can almost hold its own with a 1.7CDTi Astravan to about 75mph) I reckon cost me about £1150 buy the time I bought new turbos, MAFs and inlet gaskets :).  Though it was bought predominantly as a storage facility ;D.  For all its hateful characteristics, its been money well spent.

Trouble is, being over 50 now, should I wear those lady pants advertised on the telly, just in case I laugh too much and genuinely piss myself ;D

Lets face it, between us, we've had our fair share of car relate misfortunes ;D

Noticed that it thinks it wants a service.  Also noticed, if I start the car without the seatbelt on, it doesn't shown the service warning...   ...problem solved ;D

That got me looking when I last changed the oil, which is when I tend to reset service interval.  Seems it was 3rd August, so it is coming up to a year, although its only done about 5k in that time :o. Still, 5k is an ideal time to change the oil on a tractor :)

Jinxed myself by telling Jamie that Zadira A's  never need fixing ,"Brake pads" showing on the MFD  ;D
should still be plenty of meat on the pads ,but i will check ,maybe just pad wear wires,i say wires because that's all they are ,NOT sensors.
I'll do an oil change while it's up on axle stands ,change the air filter etc

Battlebus's never need work. Unless you overheat them racing colleagues.

I think mine must be due an oil change.  I did think about doing it when it was jacked up last weekend, but the rear fan resistor took longer than expected.  I'm sure it will survive another thrashing to Surrey and back this week on the old oil.  Then it won't be needed again for the foreseeable future :)

I do a couple of oil changes a year ,about 4 or 5 K per change on the Zafira A ,being a timing chain rather than a belt (and I really don't fancy changing the chain  ;D) and being a Tractor the oil does get very dirty .

the only time I drive fast in it is back from the MOT, so I can dump it at Mum's ASAP and get back to driving in comfort  :P
I really hate the sit up driving position of vans, people carriers etc

Some new leccy for the Westfield arrived in a box from Tayna yesterday. Somehow Yodel didn't manage to spill acid everywhere unlike last time, so got that installed.
Not sure if the weather is reliable enough for a test drive. :-\

Leave the house towards Winchester (and the weather) that way when it starts spitting, you can spin round and keep ahead of it all the way home  :y

What could possibly go wrong?

Oh, yeah, you have history of U-turns in the kit car in bad weather ;D
