Changed water pump, now have a mis-fire
« on: 12 July 2010, 15:47:08 »

To say that I am a slow worker is an understatement! My 98 V6 developed a serious leak in 2008 so i parked the old thing up.Well in january this year I started stripping ready for a new water pump, but never finished the job until today ;D
(Mark DTM your dvd is such a good thing, I wouldn't have bothered without it.)
Anyway, I now have it up and running but I have a misfire, it feels like one maybe two cylinders but I cannot see anything wrong. Initially the car started fine but it got slowly worse. Is it possible a spider or two may have got into the air intake pipes seeing as they have been laying in the garage for some months, and is it likely to clear itself?

I have a 2000 Catera 3.0 V6, and it's my understanding per Cadillac forums that when you replace the cambelt and tensioners, you should also replace the water pump, too.  One of those "knee-bone-connected-to-the...." things.

So, since those things seem to be so interconnected on that car, perhaps the same is true on yours.  If that's the case, maybe the timing belt slipped a bit.

Just a guess ::)

Best,

Marvin
