General Discussion Area / Project TB2 - Update 12
« on: 16 May 2007, 20:44:38 »
Yesterday, on the way back from Omegatoys, I was late and in trouble with Mrs TheBoy for being late, so I was 'pressing on a bit' in the tractor. Came off a roundabout, foot hard to floor, revs went up, speed went down. Just like a slipping clutch.

So I thought I'd better stop, so started to brake, and drive came back for a while, when started to lose again.  Every time I braked firmly, I got drive back.

As I was near home - about 1/2m, I limped it home in 1st with no further dramas.  Absolutely stank of ATF about half and hour later...

Due to symptoms, esp seeming to get drive when braking (pushing ATF to TC), I suspected low atf level.

So tonight, jacked up one side, through in 1.5l via a hose and funnel with engine running.  Removed hose, and about 1l came out, possibly more (some made it on to drive).  So I'm guessing it wasn't that?

So, I guess I've knackered the box as well.

General Discussion Area / Omegas on my estate
« on: 18 May 2007, 10:22:11 »
I was helping Mrs TheBoy deliver some leaflets for her club (some girly needlecraft thing) the other day around this end of the estate. So printed off about 250 leaflets for her. And about 20 for OOF to put through doors of Omega owners ;)

Well, run out of her leaflets after 1.5hrs, didn't get rid of a single OOF one. Only 2 Omegas in the newest part of Brackley it would seem, and they are both on my drive.

Nice Monaro VXR in red around the corner though....

OOF Admins having a bad day.

I thought I was having a bad day (thanks Omegatoy for the offer of a tow home), sounds like Laidback66 is having worse  :'(

Sounds like you had a lucky escape, hope you don't feel to bad, or ache too much in the morning.

Don't worry about your pride - you know we'll rip that to shreds anyway ;)

I suspect if you've had a punchup with an airbag, you'll have some painkillers of some description, so no alcohol. So I'll have a beer for you  [smiley=beer.gif]

Seriously, glad it seems you're OK :y

General Discussion Area / PCMCIA flash cards
« on: 08 May 2007, 20:01:51 »
On for PCMCIA experts.

I am after a 32Mb linear flash.  Must be 32Mb, and must be linear.  I know sod all about them, but have researched a little bit, and it seems there are all sorts of other bits I need to specify, unless different terminology is used for same things?

Anyone know a good supplier, and if I need to specify something else.

TIA

General Discussion Area / Automated email issues

Just trying to work out how big this issue is.

The forum often sends out automated emails if you have configured your profile - things like notifications of PMs etc, or watched threads.  It would appear some of these are not getting through.

General Discussion Area / Temp Gauges
« on: 07 May 2007, 13:42:25 »
Possibly one for Mr DTM, but, forgetting the dash gauge, do facelifts run cooler than prefacelifts?  I am beginning to have a theory that they don't, and the 90 - 100 degree temp gauges are identical in every way to to the 80 - 100 degree ones found in facelifts.  Almost as if Vx simply scaled the prefacelift gauges wrong....

And its not just the tractor that is making me think this (that gauge just reads rubbish), but also the MV6.  Both running the same (latest) software...

General Discussion Area / Project TB2 - Update whatever
« on: 02 May 2007, 20:30:13 »
Sorry, I haven't posted any updates, been busy, and away on business. And hungover.

Can't remember have update this is? 11? 12? Who cares?

Nearly sorted out the coolant loss.  It hasn't lost coolant for probably 2 weeks.  I have tech2 plugged in as a temp gauge, coz the one on dash is on another planet.  Got some Forte coolant flush to run through it coming, hopefully that will finally fix the cooling.

Fixed the drivers check strap (well Mr DTM did ;))

'Replaced' the atf with LB and M_DTM's help (not much in there to replace)/

Aircon sprung into life itself :y

Replaced Fuel Filter (Well Omegatoy did, and it was on pretty tight), and ran some diesel magic through it.

Retapped sump thread.

To Do:
Need to replace temp gauge, so need to source a 98 TD dash.  Or see Omegatoy ;)

Need to replace wheels, as these have wrong PCD. Tyres shot anyway. Got some Elite 16" wheels lined up, thanks to this place :y

Need a passenger side headlamp washer.

Need to fix sump leak cause by me when I retapped it :(

Need to check issue with brakes.

Replace passenger door speaker grill.

Replace boot carpet.

Give it a good service, it hasn't had one for ages I suspect...

General Discussion Area / Thanks MDTM and LB66
« on: 28 April 2007, 20:32:18 »
Damn decent chaps.  They insisted on 'helping' change the fluid in the tractor's gearbox, despite my objections  :P

Then Marks_DTM was insistant on sorting out the EGR valve (stripped thread), so obviously I had to let him...

In all seriousness, thanks to M_DTM and Laidback66 - it was a job I don't think I could of done on my own.  The box changes much, much better. Still got a naff change point map, I think GM need to do more work on that, but the change is much smoother without the clunking/surging :y

We also found why the gearchange was far from smooth...

So thanks again, really appreciated :y :y
(and anytime you fancy doing the MV6, you only need to ask  ::))
