Omega General Help / Re: Swapping interior
« on: 07 August 2023, 18:31:56 »
I just remembered the glovebox handle is broken and does anyone know what is involved in removing the lower dash panel(s) apart from the obvious stuff?

Scroll down to the interior section.

Might not be a specific link to swap the interior but there will be something for different items like the seats etc :y

Thanks, never thought of the guides bit, there is a few guides there I can look through.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Swapping interior

Hi

I'm planning swapping my black leather interior over to the cream leather, apart from the obvious seats and door cards is there anything fiddly doing this job or is it pretty straightforward?

Never had seats / interior out of an omega but done on plenty other cars so just in case there is any sticky bits.

Thanks

Surely they're going to encourage drivers to concentrate on their speedometer rather than the road.

Just a thought.

Sort of like me staring at my MPG reading in the 3.2!

Omega General Help / Re: Replacement Radiator
« on: 18 June 2023, 17:04:24 »
I just left the plugs in my replacement radiator and put the external cooler back in place, granted the fan shroud doesn't clip back over the top of the radiator quite as well as would like so had to jam a bit of wood in it to give it something to clamp onto.
That's a sign of a poor installation of a poor part.

Think it was the top of the condensor not quite the same as the original so the fan didn't quite clip on snugly over the lip. replaced that same time as rad was out.

Hi

I'm not finding any oem switches for these anywhere, stocking up for when I change the rad on elite, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good copy make or have a gen set they could part with (But wouldn't blame you if you didn't!)?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Re: Elite jacking points corroded.

Doughnut at local tyre shop jacked on the sticky outy bit and put a dent in it, after me asking him not too. As I understand it this brace is only to hold the jack arm in place so it lifts the car on the sill edge bit where it won't bend.

Omega General Help / A/C Schrader Valves
« on: 21 May 2023, 15:36:34 »
I'm looking to replace the schrader valve on my AC, it was leaking. Not entirely convinced it is just a tyre valve though, it may fit but are the seals r134 compatible?

Some listed on this thread but the parts are now sold out.

Any thoughts what is the right ones to get?

Thanks

Tried the pedal trick to read the codes, got P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1), which I know about, and then another code that seems to be P1612 Immobiliser No Or Wrong Signal Immobiliser. Could that have been the other key causing that?

This is the 2nd code read out:

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Spanner light

3.2

Just wondering should the spanner light stay on when ignition is on but engine not started?

I noticed this morning when I had ignition on for 12v tyre pump that spanner light was flashing. I do have a key for my 2.6 on the key chain so wondered if it was interfering with the pick up or something. I took that key off the key chain and it stopped the flashing light but the light remained solid on with ignition.

Thanks

All my classic Triumphs have some form of protection on their original steel brake and fuel pipes, with either the original dealer applied underseal which I keep supple with a yearly spray of Bilt Hamber or the like, or a thin film of heavy duty grease - never been an issue or advisory when they used to be MOT'd (now exempt, which is another debateable subject). The longest I've owned one of my current Triumphs is 39 years and they all still have their original brake pipes. I know they aren't corroded because I check them every year as part of my yearly service regime.  MoT testers aren't stupid - they can recognise a well maintained vehicle with or without greased or protected brake pipes, and assess the vehicle accordingly.

I sometimes think MOT testers just tell you things so they can, I've had a guy once say a bearing was knackered, and I said can you show me, he knew I used to work in the trade so had a feel myself for play and noise, there was nothing wrong with it and he passed it.

When I was talking to the tester about I'd just had the coolant all changed and about bleeding the coolant he said oh you shouldn't need to bleed any ecotec they are all self bleeding. ???
