GPS Antenna adapter found
« on: 17 October 2018, 20:49:33 »

My new Winter car was equipped with the NCDC 2013 navigation head unit. Since it is kind of out dated I have more moderns stuff in my cars. Like the Eonon 2-Din head units that are an Android tablet for cars with Radio and bluetooth connection to your mobile phone.

Since my car had GPS it do have that type of antenna. My intention was to find an adapter that could use the GPS antenna connector to connect to the Eonon head unit.

I found this one GPS antenna adapter cable FAKRA female - SMA male 20cm VW AUDI SEAT SKODA that looked like it had the same connector inside that green plastic. By prying out that pink bit I could remove the housing to get the connector free.

This is how it looks when mounted to the antenna cable connector. The head unit shows a strong GPS-signal. Just need some insulating tape to protect it.

Nice one, saves running new cable and faffing about trying to source a replacement antenna.

I'd be tempted to glue that connector together using a hot glue gun.

Wrap some Self Amalgamating Tape around it, from Cable across the Connectors to the other Cable, will keep the connectors together and keep the any moisture out.
