He does say it will drive and has no other faults so if I were interested I would turn up with a set of jump leads and, if it didn't start and drive, tell him where to shove it.

Mythbusters checked this one out a few weeks ago and couldn't make it work :(

I spent most of my childhood launching coke bottles from the end of the hose pipe. Never tried more than one at a time though. They can attain quite an impressive height once you get the right ratio of water and compressed air.

Of course, what has just occurred to me is that back then, I didn't have one of these in the garage (and now I do  [smiley=evil.gif])

Bet it's handy being and auto transmission specialist with 2,200 BHP to rip your gearbox to bits though :o

Is there a casting or p/n on the casing of an LSD?
If so does anyone know what it is or how you can tell with a car that does not drive??
As i think i might have found one on E-Bay but not sure.
Any help would be great.
TIA

Damn. Was just about to suggest a quick doughnut in Tecso's car park usually settles that one.

I would imagine the castings are the same whether it's an LSD or not. Just depends what gubbins is put into the casting at a later date You're probably looking for a little metal plate or even a label attached to the diff.

A mate of mine managed to convince his company to sponsor Marcus Grönholm last year, so he was at all the meetings with a VIP pass, taking photos with the press, even wangled a few drives (did I mention he used to race a single seater?). Not sure who he's sponsoring this year as Marcus has retired IIRC.

What a job, eh? 8-)

I think writing to the garage is a good idea. If the chap decides to write a letter the backup the cashier would get if there were already a letter from you supporting her would probably mean more to her than your intervention on the day. After all, she probably doesn't have the best job security anyway in that sort of position.

Could make the difference between her "Pi$$ing off a customer" and her "Successfully dealing with an awkward git" in her boss' eyes.

Yeah, too true. Unless you tell the police that there's a guy being arsey and I'm about to shoot him you'll get bu66er all response.

Only you can answer that question based on cost.

Except for the oil. If you're changing it every 7k and it doesn't get a regular long run I think you should do it twice a year. It only costs a tenner or so if you use GM semi on trade club and it will be better for the engine. Keep an eye on the breathers too, as they'll be more likely to block and cause hassle. :y

Regarding brakes they should last plenty of time at 7k a year. Exhaust is likely to rot quicker so a stainless probably makes more sense to you than to someone doing loads of motorway miles.

6995 "retail value" for a 3.2 with tatty interior (not MV6 sports seats), 120K miles and grommets in the roof keeping the water out? :o

He's going to be disappointed when that finishes if those are his expectations.

Would make a good track car perhaps or a fixer-upper if it went for peanuts but he's having a laugh trying to dress it up as something it's never been.

Are you going to be dual-fuelling this one?

After the engine rebuild (and I mean rebuild!) if all is sweet, I will be very seriously considering gassing it, with some more assitance from good friend K Wood :)       :-*

Steady on!  :o

But yes, another LPG project will be no problem when it runs on petrol.
