Gearbox holes

Does anyone know if these holes on AR25 gearbox are

    - designed like this ( breathing ?)
or
    - should be covered by some rubber bung

I rememember when I bought my first Omega back in 1999 I found those two holes were not covered which did look strange.

I made a few enquiries at my local Vauxhall parts department and they confirmed that there should be two rubber grommits and in those days you could get replacements. Probably not available now?  :(

I have an AR25 on the bench. Just been out and had a look and I can't figure out where your photo actually is!

There is a large bung (4 cm) in the lower part of the bell housing.

Shall I take a picture of the under side of mine?

the small hole is on the bell housing of the auto box & the large hole is on the engine side that mates up with the bell housing  :y

"...there should be two rubber grommits..."

Can you please clarify if they were

 - grommits (with a hole in the centre)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grommet

or simple

 - bungs

or was it perhaps

 - Gromit ?

Grommets  but no holes in centre. the holes you are looking at are access points to torque converter bolts which is the larger hole. they are to keep water and road grime out IMHO :y

I have same problem

I have the round bung at the bottom of my AR35 autobox, so can confirm that for you.

I'm also missing the oval bung at the back of the bellhousoing which like people say is an inspection hole for getting to the torque converter bolts.

I'd like to find a oval bung aswell please if anyone has one?

Sorry to jump on your post.

Cheers

last one looks like a wine demijohn bung, not sure that would help really, LOL

Basically its a oval blind grommet, someone breaking an auto omega might help??

Otherwise scrapyard, but its an arse getting underneath in a scrapyard
