General Discussion Area / covid vaccine
« on: 01 January 2021, 09:36:12 »
the doctors practice that i am with has apparently administered 70 doses of the vaccine . that got me wondering , whom decides the priority. also nobody should call the surgery, just wait to be contacted. a lady has written on Next Door Dalton that she was put on hold for two hours before she became No 1 on the call list.my guess is the surgery was inidated with calls regard the vaccine. all the lady wanted to report was ,her mum had been given the wrong pills

General Car Chat / oil change
« on: 21 December 2020, 19:37:34 »
a neighbor checked the oil in his mokka & found it to be way above the top dipstick mark. he used my cheap mityvac & removed the excess which happened to be 1/2 ltr ish. he reckoned the local garage did the filter changes. if that is right should he pull them. ?

i have been driving since 1964 & this morning i got my first ever speeding ticket . clocked doing 36mph in a 30 zone. been lucky though as i admit i dont hang around. the guy that copped me sprung out  from nowhere with a handheld gadget. the irony of it , is i was the fourth vehicle behind a tractor.

General Discussion Area / missing my omega
« on: 19 November 2020, 23:20:31 »
what i miss mostly about my omega is the car i have doesn,t require me to do anything. tinkering about on my mig was i realize now quite therapeutic. services, brakes ect were quite satisfying once done. now i have a shed full of tools which are redundant. plus the last mig was an estate which would carry just about anything i now have a car which only just has room for a couple of shopping bags. long live the omegas  :y :y :y

General Discussion Area / call centres (frustration)
« on: 06 October 2020, 16:20:26 »
i am sure this thread will relate to many of us. why do british companies use foreign based call centres I have been on the phone for over two hours trying to rectify a mistake made initially by them. i changed broadband supply from BT to Talktalk two weeks ago ,set it up by speaking to a person that i found it difficult to understand & when he asked me for my email address he must of slipped up by adding an extra L to gmail reading it as maill , consequently not getting emails from them. after two hours on the phone still no joy . the guy kept saying we have sent you an email with a link to reset my a/c . if i had hair i would have pulled it all out by now. how many times must i tell them that the emails are not arriving from them. ??? :'(

General Discussion Area / furniture village
« on: 30 September 2020, 18:37:59 »
i ordered a sofa & chair from furniture village on july 1st . the delivery date is well past. they have the sofa but no chair. there offer is a £i00 discount if i am prepared to wait which they estimate to be another nine weeks. ( but thats not a guarantee ) or i just cancel the chair
with a full refund,& except delivery of the sofa .  anyway thats what iv,e done. as i was doing so the salesman informed me the delivery of  our sofa is tomorrow morning. we did insist that i needed at least a weeks notice to arrange disposal of our current sofas. so did have a bit of a panic getting a removal guy at a short notice.  also i shopped on-line and found the same chair £200 cheaper with guaranteed a 2man  delivery on Fri 2nd

General Car Chat / diamond brite
« on: 24 August 2020, 12:28:14 »
i purchased a car which had a diamond brite paint warranty. last week i noticed on the rear o/s wheel arch a bit of lacquer peel. its about the size of a thumb nail. i am a bit worried if when it goes for a wash the peeling gets worse.  i contacted the dealer that i bought the car from but they told me to get in touch with diamond brite. did so, but i expected them to say take it to a place near to me & get it assessed & rectified near to where i live, but not so. they want to see a photograph. i took a couple but with the shine of car its hard to spot.

General Discussion Area / state pension woe
« on: 24 July 2020, 22:31:59 »
my wife whom has been eligible for her state pension for almost 15yrs has had it stopped, the reason being she has been told was a letter was sent to her notifying her of the yearly increase was returned to them stating " not at this address " trying to explain to them that the letter never reached us & it must be a postal error & the wrong recipient must be the one to return it has for weeks been falling on deaf ears. also to phone them it takes up to 40mins to get through & never less than 20mins. on Monday it will be 11wks. mine incidentally mine has not been effected.
