Hardly their fault. They ordered the kit on good faith, and if the NHS/Care industry management had done their jobs correctly, the government wouldn't have needed to be begging, stealing or borrowing basic equipment from everyone and their dog.

Clearly contingency planning needs some work...

Try blaming the right people .. like those in Turkey perhaps ??  At least the items were checked before being issued.. otherwise you "moaners at everything" would then be blaming the "government" for distributing faulty kit ...

If you purchase a part for your car what would you do, check that it is correct & fit for purpose I know that's what I do, therefore someone in the UK must be employed to replenish PPE which conforms to our standards that's what I would like to think, obviously the purchase must have been left to someone without the necessary knowledge/ training .

Sadly this is what happens when you run an economy on the cheap , if we want top notch services and equipment we have to pay for them , low taxes - low performing services

The PPE procurement problem is a global one. I have watched news programmes from various countries and they are all in exactly the same position.

As I have repeatedly said to people, it is very easy to be an armchair critic when you do not bear the huge responsibility of running a country at this time yourself!

Do you think omegod that during WW2 everything that was ordered by the Government for the conflict was perfect and fit for purpose?  No it was not, as we are human, no one is perfect, mistakes can be made, especially when the pressure is on, and there will always be those who seek to make a buck or two beyond normal profit, out of a crisis situation.

Joking asides, the fact that hospitals etc claim to constantly be running out of ppe etc does beg the question as to why they don't normally use any

Can you give an example of a successful high tax economy ?
Low performing economy means not enough money to fund public services. Personally I would scrap most so called public services, but Im not in charge of such things.

If I order a part from Germany .. I order according to part number and standard required...  and I EXPECT the delivery to conform to those details ...  I don't drive to Germany to check .... if they don't conform I have to send them back ...

SO, HMG order PPE to UK specification, are told it complies, and so take delivery ... on arrival the items do not conform ...so are rejected ..... so just where in that "chain" is the fault   Only one place I'm afraid .. the "supplier" side ...
