My sympathy for Farage has no beginning.
The fact that it's Farage has no relevance.
Don't remember any fuss in the press about the accounts I've had closed.
It's about companies not wanting to do buisness with certain customers for whatever reason. Gobshites who spout off in public with views that don't align with those companies view only have themselves to blame IMV. I'm sure Nige could get a basic bank account - you know no bank card, no credit card, no cheque book, no overdraft - infact I believe Nat West offered him one when the fuss first erupted.
No different to some of us who don't want to do buisness with British Airways, Wetherspoons, eBay, Amazon, Yodel etc.
Most businesses don't hold such power over an individual's ability to live a normal life. It doesn't help that they're a bunch of lying (as proven by Farage's SAR), self interested leeches. If it weren't for the myriad of legislation put in place over these past few years, dirty money would be flowing freely throughout the banking system. In fact, they'd probably be fighting over it.
If Coutts held "such power over an individual's ability to live a normal life", and that individual is Farage, then he's an even bigger cretin than I thought. Coutts is a bank for "High Net Worth" customers and rule #1 is don't put all your eggs in one basket.
A bank tried to dick me over about 30 years ago - I went a few pence overdrawn whilst I was out of the country and their T&C's were that for that quarter and the following you had to pay a charge for each cheque you wrote, and every cash withdrwawl. Ever since I've had about 5 accounts with different banks - Currently LLoyds, HSBC, TSB, Nationwide and Halifax. If one of them pisses me off then I open another account somewhere else, and transfer to that account, typically getting a £100 transfer bonus.
