Used to do 12hr shifts in busy periods at my second last job before retirement, (i was there 25yrs). It was ok for the first 10 days or so but then the time morphed into a zombie like round of working, eating and sleeping. After about 3/4 weeks you didn't know your arse from your elbow.  :D Took voluntary redundancy in the end. Last job had much more civilised  working hours. ;)

I suspect that by the end of August, once the cash flow has returned to a degree of steadiness, everyone will have been refunded.

It isn't right, but equally it's easy to see why travel companies might do this, or freely offer vouchers over the booking value. Put another way, if had to refund 100,000 customers a day for four months. From your savings. What would YOU do?

I'm in full agreement with you DG.

If the flights for next year were the same, or similar price to what we paid for this year, then I'd have happily taken the vouchers/rebooked for next year.  Unfortunately, the airlines have hiked prices by no-small amount.  It may be that they need to in order to survive, but if immediate cashflow is their main concern (which I believe it should be) then making future flights competetive to what the customer has already paid would have been a much better gameplan.  I'm only waiting on a few hundred quid, so it's no big deal, but if it were thousands, I'd be a little more disgruntled.

I hasten to add, I only ever use low-cost carriers, and the above is true for easyJet, TUI, Jet2 and WizzAir.  I haven't flown Ryanair for at least a decade, and wouldn't put money in their coffers if my life depended on it.  I can't comment on Norweigan, as haven't booked with them this year, or next.

Norwegian are somewhere between Ryanair and EasyJet with longhaul options, but without any savings and enough debt to feed an African dictatorship :D

Can't see me having another foreign holiday[last one was 2009]certainly not while the dog is alive.Mind you I don't do holidays here either! I'm perfectly happy to have the occasional day out here and there to places that hold some kind of interest for me.

Perhaps you could tick both boxes simultaneously...

Almeria airport code is LEI, which I used to annoyingly call Leicester much to the chargrin of passengers.

Leicester, and therefore Almeria, are barely a postcode away from Derby :D

Given that we've had one of the worst Covid outcomes in the world, it's pretty arrogant of the UK government issuing a list of countries that Brits can travel to and come back with out having to quarantine.  :-\

I think we should be grateful that any country will let us in! ::)  And why have they left Portugal off the list FFS?  ???

Oh and then there's the Dear Leaders of Wales and Scotland throwing a spanner in the works!  ;D

Things seem to be announced then in the next instant changed, reading between the lines I really believe that you have to trust your own judgement it seems obvious to me that there seems to be very little known about the Covid 19 virus, so it's down to individual choice , the rules/advisories that have been put in place are not policeable  so make your own choices & face the outcome.

Yep.  My mates wife is a Kiwi and she's had to go to NZ for family reasons.

The only thing is that she is now languishing in quarantine at a hotel near Auckland airport for 14 days!  ;D

They've secured the place with a big perimeter fence as well, so even if she wanted to do a runner, she'd have start tunnelling!  :D

Yep, there'll be a week of butt hurt from them, as usual, before they implement precisely the same policies themselves. ;D

That's what our government should have done, and still be doing.
