You have clearly become paranoid, Mr Rog.

Too much time spent with sheep in Wales will be the cause of your problem. :)

They are whistling the welsh national anthem...."I will never find another ewe"!

He did a similar job for me - leaking AR25 to used but good AR35....brilliant job, I concur with all of the above.

Only slightly off topic, but an example of Sod's Law (it never takes a day off).....
Why, oh why whenever you take the keys out of your pocket does the key fob always present itself button side down? Well, 99% of the time, anyway. It is way beyond random chance and I think that there is dark evil at work here!

It has all been said above, better than I could have, but may I add my condolences, please? We have only met once, when you did my cambelt so expertly but it was soon obvious what a fine engineer and gentleman you are.
Tears come, unbidden, to the eye......

The meter positive lead is plugged into the 2 Amp socket, so you need to switch the selector to its 2 Amp range. If you want to use the range you are presently switched to, plug it into the next socket to the right of the 2 Amp socket.
It has been said on here before but worth repeating - NEVER attempt to measure voltage (i.e. leads across the battery) with the leads still plugged into the current-measuring terminals....your meter will rapidly resemble a failed power sender!

Kate, I cannot be specific about this, but I do recall reading negative reports about wood-burners, saying that they do produce carcinogenic vapours and long term use is inadvisable.
Sorry to be so vague, but as I had no intention of getting such a stove I didn't take notes, merely stored it in the back of my mind.
Please do a little research to find the full story for your own safety.
Also of course, this forum being what it is there will be someone along soon to tell you that I'm talking b******s and give you the full story!

The "fizzing" is an indication of completed charge. A discharged battery will convert charging energy into stored chemical energy, converting lead sulphate into lead oxide (my chemistry is only approximate!) and when all conversion has taken place, the energy that you continue to provide goes into splitting the water content in the electrolyte into hydrogen and oxygen and heat - hence the gassing. This is the point at which you stop charging as the electrolyte becomes too acidic and the heat damages the plates of the battery.
The so-called "smart" chargers have supervisory circuits which drop their output voltage down to a lower level to maintain full charge but no gassing, but as you would expect, they are dearer than basic chargers.

I hate to mention Ebay, but they are good for some things and in this case you can get a more than adequate multimeter for around £3, including postage!
Use it, follow the guide as suggested and report back with your findings if you need more help; happy to oblige if you do.

I never saw the actual news item, only what I read on here, but can they be
seeer -ee -us (MacEnroe!)? How on earth can they equate a random number plate to the Falklands war - which THEY started, and lost? They need to get over themselves!
It seems that people will see bad intentions in anything that Mr. Clarkson does: remember that "slope" incident? Who in this country knew that "slope" was a pejorative term over there?

Doctor Opti, I wonder if you are in the habit of holding the car on the foot-brake for short pauses after normal road braking? You describe the classic symptoms of warped discs due to such action. With braking, obviously the discs become hot and cool when the brakes are released, but if you hold the car on the foot-brake the disc area between the brake pads does not get a chance to cool, whereas the rest of the disc does - hence differential cooling takes place and the disc warps.

Stuart, please forgive me if I am wrong, but as VGA signals are analogue and HDMI signals are digital, wouldn't a converter be needed? I don't think it would work directly.

I plan to do something similar soon - just scart-to-scart lead from Sky box to a DVD recorder should do it.
If I ger to do it before you, I'll let you know how I got on.
