Slightly different.

If you're after performance the you need much deeper pockets...

Pedders EP1145 plus EP1168...

Readily available from US (Summit Racing) if no UK stock... Expect to pay £150+ :y

just after seeing if senator none void bushes fit omega..

if not ill fit std omega ones and make insert bushes for voids to stiffen standard bushes up

If you want to stiffen it, fit Monaro polys. If you don't, fit Omega ones and call it done.

Senator/Carlton ones are a different shape, although they fit, they work loose in short order.

As DG says, Carlton ones work loose really quickly, which is why many of us run polys.

Why don't you want polys (cost aside). Its a myth that they harshen the ride, they just take it back to the ride of a new rubber bush...  ...which will feel firmer if you're used to shagged bushes.

Probably the price difference.
Polys £150.... Rubber £30.

The difference in rear end control is worth £120... Even on a Desmond  8)

To some it might be,  I'm quite happy with mine,  I like the unpredictability and sofa like handling, that STD bushes, and worn suspension gives, I've got poly fronts..

I replaced rubber ones twice (both new one sets lasted two years) before I ordered polys. So if you gonan keep car several years, it's not so big difference to change to polys at this point.

I GO with good std replacement and fit poly inserts. (ill make myself ..)

i disagree with poly harness statement.. ive used polys on most of my cars and can always feel the NVH increase slightly . but not a lot.

Std ones replaced will make it better anyways as its on original ones now and done 136k and 14 years old ..
replace again for genuine gm or like quality and should see the car out. but if i make the inserts or compression bushes to compress rubber slightly get slightly stiffer bush in turn and no increase in nvh..

thanks anyways guys.. but yes price of poly rear mounts i doubt ill be buying poly ones.

You're missing the point...

Standard ones fail because the bonding fails between the rubber and the steel structure, allowing water to corrode the structure, which in turn causes the bush to fall apart...

No such problem with the poly ones, and something that an insert won't solve.

Indeed wont fix what will happen .. but standard ones last long enuf .. and insert will cost nothing as i make myself so they will be stiffer than std bushes but not as stiff as poly (as vpids will be filled with insert) thus sgopping it tearing as easy and wont increase nvh

Done 9t before on other cars im ok with this thanks.

Not paying 150 for poly mounts

Not sure why you bothered asking then ???

Obviously didn't read first post then ... question was do Carlton / senator ones fit as have no voids so a little stiffer than omega ones

That's all

Got answered they don't so that's fine I'll go std replacements with a poly insert

I drove about two weeks with poly's and it was driving me nuts, to much noise and vibration.
Handling was awesome but not the nvh so I switched back to the original ones.

Just asking why also these Pedders EP1168?

They sit between the subframe and the chassis and are far more substantial than the original slice of rubber...

Also the design of the later EP1145 has changed slightly from the original ones. Some people found that the earlier ones eased out slightly and needed monitoring.

No such problem with the current ones fitted with EP1168 as together they ensure the subframe is fixed in position. No NVH issues with either on my cars, (both estates... 1. Early EP1145 and solid rear diff mounts, 2. Current EP1145 and EP1168 with original diff mounts).

Basically EP1168 prevents the front of the subframe from riding up under load whilst EP1145 controls and lateral forces... these being the disconnected feeling you get from the standard bushes as they degrade ;)

That I understand, but in de EP1145 set are these also, are these not good?

The PU set that I had was not from Pedders. But spending $150 just for tying out is little to much.

They're different, the ones in EP1145 sit are a smaller diameter than EP1168.

The fact that you didn't fit the Pedders ones is probably where your NVH issues came from. They have been designed to work on the VW to VZ Holden Commodore in coupe, saloon and estate chassis as a direct upgrade/replacement for the original bushes.

If I ever bought another Omega I would fit them again without hesitation..having fitted them to three of my estates... 2x 3.2 and 1x 2.2. :y

Probably.

Okay I will keep that in mind.
Perhaps I will give it a go, you never know.
