Heated Mirrors
« on: 21 August 2006, 19:29:56 »

Mirrors on my Omega are electric, guessing all of them are?  But are they heated?

Do they heat up in relation to turning the rear screen heater on?  Or should there be a little orange LED & push switch on the mirror adjustment switch?  (all it has is a left/right mirror selection switch & joystick)

The drivers mirror does have a heater sign imprinted on the glass, but the passenger doesnt.

If it doesnt have heated mirrors, is it then just a case of fitting a different switch?

They come on with the rear screen heater, and only the driver's side has the symbol but both are heated.

Not uncommon for the terminals behind the mirror to corrode badly. Also the heater element sometimes fails.

Thats the LED I'm talking about, its not on mine...

On the corsa, you'd press a little button next to the LED, which would then turn the heated mirrors on, and while they are on the light would illuminate...

but if whats said is true, then maybe they had new switch from the scrappy fitted, as I know the joystick can and does fail quite common...

On the Omega the led comes on when you switch on the rear window heater which also switches on the mirror heaters.

My Cavalier has the LED tell tale for the heated mirrors, but my Omega does not.  Anyway, as other have said, they come on with the heated rear screen which, by the way, is timed and switches itself off after 10 minutes or so.  A great bit of thinking I reckon!

Just like other things like the one touch windows, pulling the headlight switch out for interior illumination etc...  Only my opinion...................
