General Car Chat / Re: Can I have....
« on: 17 December 2023, 09:41:17 »
Only rover I ever had was a 623SLi, 2.3 litre Honda engine. It was great and pulled like a train from very low revs. It looked great in pewter. Think I traded it for the MGZT+.

I had a 620ti in Knightfire Red and its replacement was a British Racing Green 620ti. It was a quick car in its day.  :y
620ti was the fastest of the bunch and would still be considered fast now.

I had one for a while, properly quick car that didnt shout it :y

Wonder why they didn't make the Maxi as a hatchback/estate type car?  :-\

Maxis were hatchbacks. Are you thinking of the Princess, which looked like one but wasn't?

Yes you're probably right, or it might have been a Land Crab.  A big scruffy old BL anyway.  :)

Landcrab, maxi and  Austin 3lt all shared doors, they all rusted the same too  >:D

Her new car needs pig piss to save the planet. Seems a simple enough system and I have ordered 5lts and a filling hose from ECP. Any tips or do's/dont's. How often should I need to top it up and how much will it use?
Warnings may flash up in the car, but she'll just dismiss them and probably not mention them to me.

Most cars will not restart once the adblue is empty,so beware and don't ignore the countdown warnings

General Discussion Area / Re: Stripped bolt into plastic - fix?
« on: 11 June 2023, 10:20:40 »
The handle on our pressure washer is held in place with two bolts which, I now know are threaded straight into part of the plastic chassis of the washer.

I picked it up yesterday and was left holding only the handle as the bolts have stripped the plastic from the inside of their threaded holes.  ::)

I was going to araldite them back in but thought I would consult the collective "intelligence" of the OOF for a potentially better solution. I've seen that two part steel stuff at the motorfactors (no idea what its called), but any advice is welcome.

Thanks all  :y

Bigger bolts to cut new thread into the plastic, not ideal but at least as good as the original

Hickman upped the lap record today to 136.358mph !  :o

Mark Higgins averaged 128 mph around the course in a rally car,it's on you tube and is bloody frightening to watch

Torque converter slush box for me every time  :y
Admittedly it was a while back now, but SWMBO was given a DSG Passat as a courtesy car that I ended up using, I never liked the slow speed engagement while parking etc though I believe there is now a certain amount of 'creep' built into them  :-\

I'm with you there Andy, also not keen on DSG around town, fine on the open road though :y

Congratulations….. if that’s what you meant.  :y  As for the 300c ….. they’re different in a cool way. You expect men with guns to be lurking behind those tints.  :)

Thank you, and yes, it is  :).

A huge surprise as we'd both been told independently that the likelihood of it ever happening for us was remote. So it's fair to say we weren't expecting it! It has been and will continue to be a nervous but hugely exciting time for all of us   :D.

Roll on September!!

A very good friend of mine had one and loved it, drove well enough and I think it looks smarter than the Merc its based on

I cant understand the obsession with low mileage.
Cars that are rarely used suffer all kinds of problems that cars with plenty of miles, but well looked after dont.  ???

Yep …..

Agreed,my v70 is on 212 k now and still feels tight

Is that a D4 2.0?

It's a P3 2.0 derv from 2009,may have  been mapped as it seems quite spritely,it's averaged 43mpg in the year or so I've had it so quite pleased with it
No D4 badges on it so perhaps that came a bit later
Sounds the same as ours -V70 P3 2012 2.0D D4 (5 Cylinder) went to a 4 Cylinder version in 2013 I believe.

Mine is the 4 pot :y
