Title: Seals - Obtainable?
Post by: New POD on 05 January 2019, 13:20:24
Subject Car

3.2 MV6 auto with 207K

I have a Very small oil leak which is coming from the Crank position sensor.  The seal does not appear to be damaged, but are these available separately?

Also I took the breather "bits" off and cleaned them out. (YuK) and the seals at the front which sit on the 2 plastic pipes which push horizontally into the aluminum housing are breaked.  I have sealed them with something black and goey as a Saturday bodge.  Again are these obtainable

In neither case would the seals in my generic box of nitrile seals have a small enough cross section.

Dont know what is/ isn't available, but they are just o- rings, so its matter of finding the correct size.

What he said above.
Also regarding your box of o rings ,remember a thicker but small diameter o ring will get thinner if stretched over a larger diameter. They are quite forgiving so usually they can be found to fit anything. Sorry if I’m stating the obvious and you may have already tried this but just not have one suitable !.
Same goes for the breather bridge seals ( less the big one underneath ,)
