Quick question about TC oil
« on: 19 September 2016, 19:28:34 »

As the title suggests, I've got a quick question about oil. I'm almost out of my 5ltr pots of GM 10w40 oil and need to stock back up, however, I'm nowhere near a TC dealer anymore. Don't really want to splash out on anything other than genuine, as so far, it seems to be stopping my breather pipes clogging up anywhere near as much as the likes of Castrol. So, I happened upon this on eBay, any idea if it's genuine, and if the price is OK? Thoughts?

seller feedback is 99.4% (which is poor) AND all their listings are all private.  not a good sign.

also has feedback like "fake product stay away from this product". because it is private we don't know what that particular product was.

I do not understand why members try to save a few pennies on oil.If you run an Omega the cost of fuel is a killer and you should think about changing to a modern car which would save you much more on fuel savings. I love my Omega and give it the best as far as oil is concerned.

To be honest I'm not on 'Trade Club' anymore, not really, I just go in, I'm in there a lot for various little bits, and they just give me trade whatever. Don't forget it's not just for car clubs, etc, any dealer will sell stuff at 'trade' price, as will anywhere, be it engine oil or bath taps.

You could chance your arm a bit, ring them, do the 'trade' voice ask 'what's trade on a 20 litre drum of ten-forty mate?' turn up in your overalls and stand and moan a bit if they don't want to give you it, say you were quoted it earlier etc. You'd be bound to get a bit off no matter what. About £36 inc vat is decent for 20 litres.  I never sniff at any price reduction, and long for the day I can just walk into any shop and wave my arm casually and say 'that' without looking at the price, but frankly see no harm in asking.  :)

Keep forgetting I'm signed up to that, think it's 15 or 20% of parts, and half price mot.

Just read small print on the service club as it wasn't for parts only, discount was only available when the work was done on the car in the dealers workshop, but as i've been out of the game for three months that may have changed

Which is why I was asking about the one in the eBay link, it's Trade Club oil. I always prefer to have the genuine stuff if possible, just getting harder and harder to find VX oil at a reasonable price. Will see about giving my local a shout, although they're listed as dealers on the VX website they've taken most of the VX signage down as they're not exclusively VX now.

Frosts are no longer a GM franchise ;)

Go Vauxhall have a Parts warehouse in Burgess Hill, and still offer Trade Club prices :y
