Hell!!
I heard they were doing one, and I thought any electric version fo the mustang was a horrendous corruption of the breed.... (yes, the future is electric, no getting away from that, but as far as I'm concerned Mustang, Corvette etc should be the last IC-engined cars standing, once 99% of all new cars sold are EV in 2040 or whenever.) American muscle cars are, by definition, supposed to be offensive, and against 'society', like a Rock song - making a 'nice' rock song, about trees and happy dolphins, sung by.
But that?? It's marketing in charge, clearly.
I'd love to imagine how the initial briefing went - "right, guys, we want to do a 5 door hatch Mustang, and it's an EV" and every designer who really loves cars, and the passion they can evoke, and the spirit and heritage, and noise refused to be a part of it and walked out the door... Those that were left, who weren't really fussed, 'so long as it pays the bills'-types, they designed the car.
