Corsa 1.3CDti clutch and dual mass
« on: 04 July 2017, 19:56:25 »

Can anyone give me a hand tracking the right part numbers.....   Vauxhall want a ridonkulous amount of money (even a friendly andy can only manage around £940 )
58 plate Corsa SXi A/C CDTi (66kW manual (not semi auto) ) ,  needs a new clutch, and may as well have the dual mass as well ....    trying to find the right parts so i can buy them and have the local garage fit them.....
(their price for the parts is not far off vauxhall's  ...(around £820)    but I know damn well you can get an LUK kit for £400-500

**Vee Kay five eight foxtrot foxtrot charlie**  is the reg.

thanks in advance .....

(yes I should have remembered to ask andy for the part numbers.....  dang it  )

Why go for a new flywheel too?

Unless it`s giving you grief then it`s probably just a waste of money as it isn`t a common failing part on most cars.

because it IS a common failing part in dual mass flywheels

Says man with experience in having them replaced on his Jags

:(

that said.....   the damn corsa is actually seeming to be MORE expensive than either of my Jags were

I`ve never had one fail yet,  Omega had 136k, Carlton GSi had 156k and then went another 103K in my Senator when I converted it to manual.

Maybe I`ve been lucky but I don`t think I`ve heard of one fail on here or on ABS and I don`t know anyone who has had one fail either.

never had a manual Mig,  but i'm bloody sure the Sennie, and Carlton were single mass.   and there's break all to go wrong on those....

(and I trump you for mileage on them as well.....   My Sennie's all cracked past 200k in my ownership, all 4 of them.  Only had the carlton for about 75k , (2.2cd, just before my first 3.0 sennie, in the late 80's )

24v Carltons and Senators were dual mass flywheels weighing around 16Kg  ;)

Oh...and my Senator had 351k when I retired it  :P just that the manual box was only on for the last 100k  ;D

DMFs, particularly on common rail diesels, do seem to be a regular service part nowadays.  In fact its normally a failing DMF that is the most common reason for a new clutch on these...

I think petrol DMF's take less of a hammering but the Omega drift boys in Ireland tend to manage to wreck V6 ones, I've sent several DMF's over there
