After three Omegas I had a Zafira for three years. I hated almost every moment of ownership but looking back it was a solid car, reliable and was very useful when I moved.
Then I had a Vectra 9-3 2.0T for two years. I was happy with it right until the moment it caught fire. It was a good example and quite rapid.
Now I have come full circle and back in another Omega but it doesn't feel as nice as it used to. The Vectra in drag was a much nicer car to drive and a better place to be in. Slightly unfair comparison because the Omega is twice the age - and still alive!
I think long term I might go German instead of British :-X
What have you lot replaced or intend to replace yours with?

After much searching and research, and not because I wanted to ... an Audi A6 Allroad, 3.0ltr TDi .. but I did have a rather specialised "want" list ...
It is certainly a lovely drive, nice place to be, loads of power, tows like a dream, loads of toys, I actually do enjoy driving it ... but its not my Omega .. :(

First replacement was a Merc R Class .... I'd never heard of them either and now I have a ML350 :y

All good cars and I still have the Mondeo and the V70. :y

My current plan when the Omega goes is to replace it with a Merc CL500.

I Went from a 3.2 MV6 Estate to a CDTI 150 Zafira for economy and family reasons
More recently got a more apt replacement, Merc E250 Estate
Shame there wasnt a 'new' Omega to buy

When I stopped using the Omega as a daily, that was replaced by a Monza GSE. That has been replaced by a Monaro
Daily drive since the Omega has been Zaf A 1.6 and currently Zaf B 1.8. That will eventualy become a Vivaro combi or minibus due to my need for more space

2014 Ford Ranger Wildtrak
2016 Skoda Superb Estate
And..
Range rover L322 V8
I pick one of those up this week, although it's a 2010 TDV8 rather than 5.0 Supercharged because I just couldn't stretch to the latter.. the 650i is still here, too, and I still miss the Ranger.

It wouldn't be correct to call any of these a replacement - more like different cars for different jobs.
I pick one of those up this week, although it's a 2010 TDV8 rather than 5.0 Supercharged because I just couldn't stretch to the latter.. the 650i is still here, too, and I still miss the Ranger.
Very nice 8). Did you go for the 3.6 or the 4.4 TDV8? Also, are you ditching the superb, or just expanding the fleet?

The nearest to my wish list, which the Omega met in nearly all respects apart from age and economy, was a 2010MY XJ tractor.
Features I miss from the Omega are:
- The interior mirror being on the seat memory.
- The clock has to manually adjusted/reset
- Mrs TB complains about the lack of a front passenger grab handle

Mrs TB still has "her" Omega though. You know, the one I bought for me, as a 40th birthday treat to myself.

Having only owned GM products since passing my test, I did have a mini 850 van for a year, till I got a ha van, I know have a Vectra in a posh frock, 9-3 anniversary estate 2.0t.

1.9 CDTi Zafira, good reliable little work horse until a cyclist on crack appeared through the windscreen (circa 190k miles by me)
2.0 X260 Jaguar XF, truly fantastic mile cruncher and a great handling car, for me the best balance of ride and handling in its class. (circa 20k miles by me)
2.0 180 F-Pace R-Sport - Great car and I would have another, 27k miles travelled with no issues
2.0 240 Velar HSE - Another great car, same platform as the F-Pace but with a softer suspension setup and loads more gadgets, another will be ordered this week

Whoops - in my case, L320 Sport rather than L322 "full fat", so the 3.6 :) The Superb went a couple of months ago - basically I just got tired of spending a small fortune each month (the PCP agreement assumed I'd be doing ~30k miles p/a) for a fairly bland car, albeit brand new, (almost) rattle free and loaded with gizmos.. I thought I'd be happy with just one car, but it turns out I get squeaky bum syndrome when hers becomes incontinent and mine needs new brakes, and there isn't a third backup option ;D ;D
Plus it can tow 3.5t, has a boot large enough for several bodies.. ;D

I'm tempted at the mo by an 06 L322 4.2V8 with LPG that's on ebay. ::) It has no MOT though so I think it would definitely be a project car, but at the moment it's cheap enough.... :-\
My neighbours get a bit sniffy though when I have more than 2 cars on the drive. ::) ;D

In 2002 through to 2005, I went for a break from Omega's and other Vauxhall's for financial reasons (marriage break-up) and bought a 1989 (F reg) Toyota Carina II 1.6 estate for £300. It was an amazing car for it's age, being great for motorway journeys and around town. I kept it going by doing all jobs required, like replacing the brake pipes, a full engine overhaul, and all general servicing. It never let me down, and with my builder boyfriend at the time, the back could be often loaded with his tools and materials, along with pulling a trailer, after I fitted a towing hitch and assembly, also loaded with building materials.
I took the mileage from 160K to 250k, when I traded it in against a 2.5 Omega, so back with them, but I still miss the Carina! :'( :'(

What put me off a (cheap) L320 with the 4.2 (Supercharged) V8 was the interior - it's so dated in the RRS .. I haven't been in a similar vintage RR, mind.
IMO the FFRR interior from that era holds up much better than the RRS, I think the RRS was looking to be more modern, and hence is now showing its age, whereas the FFRR was more the traditional wood and leather type of setup

Pity the road tax is close to £600. :'(

Replaced mine this Feb with a 08 Vectra C. Sometimes i like it and others i hate it. Time will tell. Oh, and it has too many pedals. :D

Not replacements but supplementary to the Omega are a 2000 V70 2.4 n/a petrol manual and just recently a '95 Volvo 960 3L saloon auto.

Still have my three Omegas,and don't see any point of getting rid of them as I still get that old school pleasure of driving them.The VXR8 gets the odd weekend airing to a car show and it's pretty mental to drive. But I still prefer the Omegas to poodle around in,maybe its possibly a better the devil you know than someone elses old crap thing ::)

I bought a very low mileage W210 E430 Mercedes after I sold the Omega, just wanted a V8 after having several 6 cylinder cars, not disappointed at all & have had no problems with the old Merc now covered just over 40,000 miles

I do like the CLS, especially as an estate a shooting brake. I looked but they weren't quite heavy enough for my caravan & the later cars have an iPad glued to the dash for the sat-nav etc

I have not replaced my 2.2 CDX estate which I love to bits but have bought a low mileage 1991 Mercedes 230TE auto estate as a retirement toy. It has most of the options, aircon, cruise, electric windows and sunroof etc. etc. and it feels a similar car to drive to the Omega but a bit smaller. However I can still shove a jukebox in the back so all is well.

My 3.2 MV6 is racking up 20K plus a year and is now on 216K. I figure that before 300K I will need to retire it. In 3 or so years.
If I wasn't buying a (3rd) house and wasn't putting £50K deposit down, I'd be buying a Monaro for about £10K, but I am and I need to find £210K to pay off the 2 mortgages before i retire, in about 15 years.
So I'm thinking I'd probably replace the Omega with an old CL500. Cheaper than a Monaro and yet a potentially more expensive way to own a V8 in terms of what might go wrong.

I'm not complaining, 3 cars fully comp, 3.2, 2.0 Mondeo, 1.4 Jazz for under £600. ::)

Unfortunately I rather think you've hit on the two richest veins of Volvo unreliability there! At least from what I've read online.

I really like the car as an everyday 'does what it says on the tin' type of device.
Mind you, I'm probably not the full shilling.......being part of this forum is further proof. :)
