Coolant expansion tank
« on: 18 June 2018, 11:58:59 »

I'm trying to work out how the coolant expansion tank on my 2.2 yx22e is secured to the car, before i decide whether swapping it out as the sensor is buggered is a job for me or a mechanic :-)

Can anyone give me any tips?

Steve

Usually just a single metal clip on the inner wing edge and it then slides off a bracket (towards the engine)

Thx very much.
I assume that the sensor connector is part of the said bracket.

No.

So, to remove bottle...
Prise up the metal clip on the outside edge of bottle, by wing
Push bottle towards the centre of car to unlocated the bottle from the bracket
Gently lift bottle to get to sensor plug - its obvious how this unplugs when you see it
Release the 2 smaller (1 on TD models) coolant hoses, and keep their ends higher than the bottle to stop them leaking
Release larger coolant hose, and quicker shove finger over the bottle end, or pour into large jug, or whatever to try to catch most of it.

Refit reverse method, pouring back in the captured coolant. Obviously if the coolant is old, replace it.

Screwdriver under the metal clip to prise up

Underneath, you can see the brackets, and the sensor plug (ignore the extra wires I have in the same area, that's all LPG stuff)
