I did wonder if that is what they had done (snapped one on mine but easy enough to get at to drill and tap)

It was the lower bolt by the flexi section?  cant picture it.

They said they went over it all well, checked all engine mounts, went throught it with computer etc, its all they could find.

The short flexi pipe passes under the engine, front part bolts to the Cat and the rear to the DPF.

The usual is for the lower bolt/stud ( I seem to recall they are actually studs) on the flexi to DPF to snap as they spend their life being covered in crud.

It would have been obvious at removal/re-fit, maybe they though they could get away with it!

Spent more than the car's worth on new genuine cam covers (which come with gaskets) as the old ones were cracked and didn't fancy fitting new GM gaskets (£130) to old warped & cracked covers.

Fitted covers at midday, engine all back together now and battery connected. Just wondering when I can start it up, bearing in mind the small spots of black goo in the corners and half moons should have cured by now?

I know what I am going to be doing today, TBE has apparently developed a knocking noise.

*sigh*, just when I thought nearly all car tasks were complete ;D

Knocking from engine, suspension or other ?
Talking of knocking from your cars, I went for lunch at The shoulder of Mutton yesterday (ring any bells ?) and remembered you turning up  to an OOF  meet there in the silver bullet.
The engine was knocking so loudly, we could hear it long before we could see it.  ;D

Suspension, probably droplink :y.  As I was messing with suspension around 300m ago, just want to double check its all tight and won't drop off before ordering new ones...   ...CBA to try to exercise 4yr guarantee of these Meyle HD ones.

Was that the one we got turfed out from? By a river?  If so, that was around the time of "Engine Noise, terminal? thread" ;D

Absolutely nothing since Wednesday... Having contracted another bout of TB's gay ankle disease (first in about 18 months), I have barely made it up and down stairs. :'(

Yep, that's the one. Basil Fawlty,s brother had taken over the pub the day before and didn't want his car park full of cars, driven by people who wanted to buy meals in his restaurant.  ::) ;D
He wasn't there very long. The place actually closed down for  while - for some reason.  ::)
