Had a rummage at lunchtime, and pulled out all the rusty poles that can be seen in the first pic.

So, lunchtime I found, identified and removed:
A stool and table set that we had used once  :'(
My (in)famous table and small chair set, that was always the source of entertainment at OOF meets, which was older than me  :'(
The large blue table that those who attend Newent would reconise as the cooking table (often with a windbreak around it)  :'(
Small cooker stand
Large cooker stand with cupboard/tables either side, melted to our camping wardrobe
2 lounger chairs
2 of those folder up chairs often seen for sale at motorway services
Picnic type chair. Also found other, but its welded itself to some rubble
Big tent, aka greenhouse/anderson shelter  :'(
Small tent
Event Shelter
Campbed (just one so far  :-\)
Remains of a tarpaulin

She's photographing that now

Did you ever find out the cause?

Andy
A big bang. A very big bang  ;D

I don't think we'll ever find out for definate, dispite have Fire Service forensics and the insurance forensics teams out.

TBH, I get a feeling that these guys, as nobody, miraculously, was physically hurt, were more interested in checking for malicious activity, or a feud between neighbours. Many OOFers have met my neighbour, so know how unlikely that is.

The Fire Service believe that an electrical fire started, setting off a half used 1.8kg 904 campingaz cylinder (the one I use on the camping heater, for those that have been to camping meets).

The insurance forensics blieve the (same) cylinder leaked, and then the gas was ignited.

Given the sequence of events, I'm more towards the insurance forensics sequence of events. The Fire Service investigator was a spitting image of Marks DTM, both in looks, speech and mannerisms. MDTM - do you have a twin bro called Neil? If not, quiz your dad, I think you have a half brother ;D

Hmm. I've had those Camping Gaz cylinders leak before. The ball bearing seal often doesn't seat properly when you unscrew the regulator, then the rubber washer on the cap is often perished... Combine that with something that creates a spark every so often (thermostat on 'fridge or compressor starter / overload device). ::)

I used to have a few Gaz cylinders in the cupboard under the stairs. :o

They're well away in the shed now.

Near as I can tell, 0.7 kg of gas is about 1m3, so 900g would be getting on for 1.2m3, or in lay terms about 5% of the volume of an empty domestic garage. Fill said space with stuff, and ignite it, the results speak for themselves :'(
