Omega General Help / under bonnet hissing
« on: 20 August 2006, 12:05:31 »
Hi to all

I have just been checking my omega over after noticing a new hissing sound under the bonnet, This is quite loud and seems to be coming from under the pleum chamber. It is more noticeable on tick over, I can make the hissing stop when i squeeze the hose running to the ICV.

does anyone know whats causing this hissing? Sounds to me like a spilt hose or pipe of some sort i know my last 2.5 omega did not do this.

Should it hiss like it does? :-?

If i have to take the plenum off how do i go about this as i have no haynes manual as of yet. And is there any gaskets/o rings i would need to change on refitting.

Any help on this would gladly recived.

Cheers   NEIL

i am now on my second omega and both have had a wheel balance/vibration  problem at 80/90mph only i was wondering if this was perhaps a design fault as no amount of wheel balancing would/will cure it :-?

Welcome Nigsey.....if you need bits then just ask (I am on the south side of Nottingham not far from the A46.....and get trade club prices)

on the matter of trade club prices my meggy does need a new back box asap, I dont want a cheapo aftermarket job but i also dont want to pay vx's quoted price of £106+vat would the trade club price be any better or has anyone got a better idea of where to get a decent back box (move this post if you wish)

i will try to take a few pics of my car latter on  (one owner from new millwall fc  :-[)

Hello all

Ok i am new here, but what i have seen so far, looks like i will be popping back quite a lot.

I live in South West Germany, although i come from Croydon Surrey, UK

This forum was recomended to me by somebody on a different forum.

My car skills are limited, 20 years ago i had no problem fixing cars, changing gearboxs, clutchs, and if they did not start, a good idea what the problem was, but now days what with all the electronics and the general lack of room to do anything with, i find myself struggling a bit, but thaks to forums like this, i am willing to have a go.  :)

Cheers

Tony

Gald you all like like my car make me feel proud to own it

it only has a few blemishes on the bonnet (peeling laquer) i bought my last omega at 138k and sold at 178k polished it every weekend and spent way to much on its upkeep ( £1000+ in 18 months :'()

we all really should arange a meet so we can see each others pride and joys and meet each other face to face
