General Discussion Area / multi rams sorted
« on: 15 September 2006, 20:52:31 »
At last i have got my multirams all sorted out  :)

just got back from meeting up with mark_dtm and pete very nice people,   with in a matter of minutes mark had found my problem my rear multiram solanoid was not working so it was of with my plenum before i could blink, changed the part and cleaned out the breathers and re fitted in under a hour great.

the differnace on the jorney home in how the car now performed was quite shocking before there was very little mid range power now it picks up much much better really wants to go from 40+ with no bogging down when i boot it as  before.

looking forward to meeting up again at santa pod ;)

I paid £5 buy it now for mine :o

the one i got if its the same goes on and on about what could happen if you short out the wrong terminals ie blown ecu and ways of making a tool to short out the terminals safer ( adding a resistor).

i found it very tricky to reset the service interval indicator never did manage mine read  -27000 or somthing like that but i did manage to reset the clock ;D ;D your timeing of turning the iginition to 2 has to be spot on you will see ;)

i bought one of these for my rover 75 2.0 v6.  all you get is about 15 sheets of a4 explaining how too reset the service light which is exactly the same as flashing out the faluts codes on the pre faclift omega basicly you place a paperclip in the holes i think 4 and 8 in the diagnostic port and turn on the ignition to postion 2 for around 4 secs for the service indicator and longer periods for the other indicators.

i might still have my  guide i will have a look for you,  if i have still got i could post to you for free

cheers neil

I've never driven a Rover!  :o

I sold a 2000 reg rover 75 classic se which was i think a nice looking car to buy my lastest omega  it was built awfully,  interiour parts would break off in your hand at the slightest touch,  and the cabin noise from the 2.0 v6 was terribe,   fuel was even worse the my omega 27mpg on a gentle run.  clutch was imposible to use (very jerky).

but i have been told the 6 seris rovers were much better put togehter all be did like to rust i have also owned two sd1 rovers 2000 and a 2600 loved both of them shame about the rust.

that does sound a bit much boot floor/inner wings :o

never mind keep on looking for a beginner mig is the why to go very easy to pick up enough skill to do minor welding on a car. just dont buy one of them gasless welders utter shiite.

Hi

to a welder like myself that looks like a very  good project i  think you should write to him and ask just what needs welding, if it is just the floor pans or sills /wheel arches or chassis rails it would not be to bad a job at all but if the rot is in the inner wings or bulkhead then things get very tricky. due to  stuctual strenth and space and keeping everything in the right shape.

if you were still interested,  buy or hire for a weekend or two the best mig welder you can afford at best a good SIP 150amp then practic on some scrap thin sheet metal first.

The trickyest bit for even a coded welder like myself is that you can never get a good earth on a car  and finding  good clean metal to weld to is tricky as rusty thin sheet (0.8/1.0) on cars just turns into even bigger holes than you started of with.

hope this is of any help  cheers neil
