3.2 Manual Estate - MPG
« on: 10 June 2013, 14:44:48 »

Did some Parts collection and Deliveries yesterday in the Ex Plod 3.2 Estate, Essex to Stoke, down to  Oxford then back to Home, just a tad over 400 miles, filled up before I left and got back with 1/4 Tank left, thought that wasn't bad.  :-\

Journey up was empty car, but stop start all the way to Stoke, coming back was passenger and rear seats down, full of stuff and a nice clear run so 77mph, (cough), Cant remember the last time I filled up with real Petrol, been hooked on LPG on the other cars for a while now, what would a 3.2 do on a  full tank these days?

That sounds impressive to my ears. :y

I believe that the tank holds about fourteen gallons......but I could be wrong.

Think its a bit more than 14 gallons, 75 litres seems to ring a bell without looking it up.

All models, according to Mr Haynes have a 75 litre tank (about 16 & a half gallons)  :y

Yea thanks, so on that basis Ive used about 12.3 Gals over 400 miles, works out about 32 Mpg, not bad but not as good as I could get from my old 3.0 MV6 Estates, probably more like 37mpg on a run like that from memory.

These 3.2 are just not up for the economy that the older 3.0 use to do, still good to give it a blast  on the proper stuff as still cant decide whether to LPG the 3.2 Ex plod Estate or my old work horse 3.0 MV6 Estate, both manuals. :-\

Bloody autos, averaged 27mpg over last 1,000 miles or so from the 3.2

Wish the 3.2 was a manual  :(

Without doubt, the 3.0l is more economical than the 3.2, by some margin.

I once managed 30mpg over a tank from my 3.2, but that was being like Tunnie. I also once managed 32.5mpg over a 1800 mile holiday to France, including some decent long 130+mph runs, as well as urban work, in my 3.0l. On the flip side, both have seen a tank disappear in well under 200 miles, so about 11-12mpg over a tank  :'(

I fancy another manual. Just not an Omega one, as that gearbox is horrid.

I'd agree with that.

Was the manual box specifically designed for the Omega, or was it taken from a lorry to save on costs?...... ::) ::) ;)
