Omega battery
« on: 10 December 2012, 19:08:43 »

The battery fitted to my Omega was a 72AHr (it's just about coping with an ex Astra 55AHr at the moment)
Trade Club now offer 2 at 70 A/Hr and a 75 A/Hr at somewhat more expense than the other two.
Who has recently bought a battery? And is the 75 A/Hr of a similar physical to what should be fitted ie would if fit?

70 amp/hr; 510    93189922    £72.50    £66.34   £58.63

70 amp/hr; 640    93168886    £80.50    £72.45   £63.91

75 amp/hr; 680    93168573    £132.00    £118.80   £104.73

Had 70 Ahr previously and been ok - I would stick with this in view of price differential :o ;)

and I was pondering on the 75 A/Hr  ::) ::)

I have a heavy duty 75 a/hr battery fitted to mine and it provides all the power I need regardless.
Why have a lesser battery, when the costs of a breakdown would soon annul the difference in price. ;)

That was my thinking too, especially as the Omega gets limited use.  :y  :y

For a non diesel, I'd go for the cheapest on TC. I did ::)

Not even sure mine is 70Ahr, got it in my head its 65Ahr (too cold/dark to check), but its 4 or 5 years old now, so things may have changed.

But is the extra 5Ah worth almost double the price?
I'm assuming most of the Omega use nowadays is planned so slinging a battery charger on overnight is no big deal.
Plus you have those industrial strength jumpleads in an emergency.

As said, it doesn't get that much use normally, SWMBO is using it at the moment because her Smart is p'd wet through inside so de-icing the inside had become a chore!  ;D ;D ;D

But repeatedly flattening a battery doesn't do it any favours  :)

But how much difference will that extra 5Ah make? Another day before it won't start maybe. I think giving it a run weekly would do more good.

........and Andy think of going to your car on a freezing cold morning and finding your battery is flat and defunct.  Is all the inconvenience worth £30 over 5 years? ::) ::) ::) :D :D ;)
