Thanks Nick, I'm a bit reluctant to pull one out, as it's all looking a bit fragile, but it looks like it's going to be the only way to solve the problem.
The Elite has got a few insulation clips missing, and like most things Omega, I was wondering whether there possibly may be any alternative VX clips that would do the job. TIA
Apologies for sticking my nose in....but the talk of top hoses got me thinking about needing a new one at any time, bearing mind I have three cars to increase the chance of needing any sort of hoses for the V6's. And I was wondering whether Silicone would be a feasible alternative to the stupidly expensive second hand rubbish on Fleabay. I have found a company called Merlin Motorsports in Wiltshire who say that they can make to a given pattern, and was wondering whether the V6 engines generate too much heat for Silicone hoses
I guess if he wants to take the risk, then I may well do the deal. If they are a correct fit then he should be happy with what I'm asking for them....which is only a small percentage of the total cost of the refurb.
Thanks Al, but I can confirm that the pipes for the 3.2 and possibly the rest of the V6 range are completely different to the 2.2 system and the 2.0....much learned through my cock up and financial loss in getting the wrong set refurbished I am trying to sell that set to a member on here that wants them for his 2.0, and I'm not confident that they are compatible with his car.
Should brighten up the engine bay up a bit, which with all nasty pre owned junk that's being punted around on fleabay at stupid prices, there's no comparison.
Thanks for the original Autovaux tip off, but they emailed me just now, saying that they don't stock them anymore. So Rock Auto was the right choice in this case, and I think that if I get stuck again I think they are well worth a shot, bearing in mind that the Catera was a 3.0,and that may help a bit for my 3.0 MV6 for the odd part, but not a lot for my 3.2's.
Just to clear up the point on the price, they add UK VAT plus their own delivery charge making the bottom line a bit hefty But there's no point in chasing your backside here, for possibly a non existent part, life's to short
