Mk 2 Focus
« on: 27 August 2014, 10:27:32 »

Hi any one had trouble with the bonnet lock on a Ford Focus.
The key will just and I mean just unlock the bonnet to open it.
I have check the focus forum and they only talk about, if the bonnet won’t open full stop.
My question is I have bought the plastic clips they say is the fault and just wondered this,
If I can get the bonnet up with out damaging any thing should I replace the lot or try to replace the plastic clip.
I don’t want to take the lock apart and then find i can’t shut the bonnet.
Or would you suggest taking it to a Garage and let them worry about it.

If I remember correctly, its a similar unit to whats in the Mk3 Mondeo.
Do a search as I know few have had issues with them.
Good luck!

IIRC you need to drop the rad to get the mechanism out to change the clip.
