Time will tell... :-\

You might find that it controlled the flow of water, helping to guide it away from where the chassis leg joins the bulkhead :y

A picture paints a thousand words.

Quite. Nice to see what it actually looks like, I usually have to try and envisage what I'm poking blindly with a stick . . . . . the scuttle that is, not SWMBO.

I don't see the point of having a rubber bung that blocks up with silt and shit.

The two inch hole that remains is perfectly adequate.

GM could have saved themselves a few pennies.

Because it stops the cabin ventilation system drawing fumes and gases from the engine compartment !  :( ??? >:(

Can't say I've noticed any difference, Mark.

If I get any problems  I can always put it back in. :y

Vx (and other manufacturers) will always fit such a one way valve (as that is what it is) to stop the fumes plus the silent odourless killer that is CO entering into the ventilation system.  :y

So no, your not cleverer than the designers and could not have saved them money lol  ;) :y

More importantly, the forum users now know why its there  :y

.. and why Opti can sometimes be found asleep at the wheel bouncing down the Armco ;D

.. although that could just be an age thing.

Amy's been using it to go to work and back the last few weeks - no problems so far ;) I've even watched a friend of mine repeatedly start his and shut it off shuffling it around his drive cold with zero flooding problems..

Can't be a'pukka' RX8 then. ;D ;D

The RX8 owners club 'cream themselves' with tall tales about how their RXer flooded while they were driving to see the Queen..... :D ;D ;D

I'm not suggesting for one moment that this Mark DTM fella knows more about Omega's than I do.... ::) ::) ::) ::) but I've just ripped my arms apart putting the little shit back in it's hole. ;)

I have a 400 mile round trip to make over the weekend. :y

Did he hold it at 4000 RPM for 20 seconds and then kill the engine with his foot still on the throttle?

That's what the RX8 forum suggests to prevent flooding. :y
