Had a great day yesterday, spoiled of course by Vettel winning. I wanted to go home after the first lap, but Im glad I didnt. Hamiltons drive back through the field was something to behold. It was clear, even from a seat in the grandstand that he was driving the wheels off the thing to get back up the front.
Second time in three races that a Ferrari has punted a Mercedes off in the first lap. Deliberate ? I don't think so, because I don't believe Kimi would do it. If it had been Vettel on both occasions, then it would be a different thing altogether.
Imo, the cars sound horrible compared to the old v8 / 10/ 12 engines that used to howl like a banshee and make your ears bleed.
They look horrible too with the ludicrous halo device stuck on top.
The heat wasn't as bad as expected as the stand had a roof and there was a nice breeze blowing through from the back.
Free beer and free burgers & chips rounded things off nicely. It tastes better when its free.  :D
Seats were excellent, we sat just where they start to turn into the first corner. Magnusson went of right in front of us. You really understand how fast they are going when you see one skating through the enormous run of area and thud into the tyre wall.
Journey home was shite, as the M1 was stop start for mile after mile due to speed restrictions for non existent roadworks.
Did around 250 miles in the Omega yesterday. By far the longest drive since I bought it. It performed faultlessly and was a real pleasure to drive, as I expected it would be.  :)
You just love little Sebastian.......don't you. ;D

Is he your number one driver of all time? ::)

Fortunately, because the Indians and other do-gooders say I can't watch the telly whilst driving, I only got to hear the audio, whilst Mrs TB could see what little action there was.

You were right about the track. Its pretty crap now.  :y
Don't mind people from across the channel, as long as they aren't French.  ;)……….although my number one driver of all time was French Canadian. The Canadian part being all important of course.  :D

Cheers Varche.
p.s. Magnusson didn't crash in front of us, Ericsson did. I knew it was one of the sson,s.  :-[ ;D
The event coincided with the 70th anniversary of motor racing at Silverstone. To mark this this, a superb collection of Grand prix cars of the past did a couple of laps.
Cant remember all of them, but there was Jim Clarks Lotus, Stewarts Tyrell, Mansells Lotus, Hunts Hesketh and lots of others. Great to see.
The Red arrows were magnificent, as always.  :y
