Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Xenon light bulb question
« on: 16 March 2013, 16:23:52 »
Do they all die slowly...like less and less bright? Couse my right headlight died suddenly and I'm at work so couldn't try to swap them yet and can't do that until tomorrow. I just need to know if there can be balast issue. Tid, Stan

As above, doesn't matter what colour, will  repaint them anyway and strips from rear arch to the tailgate . They are for my mini F/L so if there should be some different  fittings under those, I'd like to have that too. NEED to be send to Slovenia, thanks Stan

Omega General Help / Door rubbing strips
« on: 11 March 2013, 20:21:35 »
Evening guys, I have an issue with driver's side door rubbing strip - it came of a bit just enough to get cought in front side wing....well...you know what happened.
I managed to put it back on somehow and glue it just enouh to hold in place.
The thing is, omega is still in very good condition, beside the doors. That's why I have another four of them in the garage- prepared for rust repair and then paintjob.
I believe it would be better having F/L door rubbing strips because I could place them on fixed doors and back on the car again after rust sorted out....old - mini F/L are disposable am I right?
Due to lack of omegas in my country I would need to get those door strips from England I know.
Thanks in advance, Stan

General Car Chat / That's some difference!
« on: 10 March 2013, 12:32:43 »
I had some work to do on my omega this week and it all came out just perfect.
Throttle body now clean, ICV, cam cover replaced (again)

and most important I replaced exhaust manifold yesterday...now that makes a difference!
I was afraid my 4-pot needs new hydraulic lifters after sounding like this for last few months when cold

http://youtube.com/watch?v=t_PBzTkrIQM

But then I figured out it could be leaking manifold's fault so I went for a cheaper solution first an it worked

She sounds beautiful now so I need to thanks to a member here Abiton for sending me exaust manifold all the way to where I live. Thank you again

« on: 05 March 2013, 15:31:35 »
Hi guys, I went to buy exhaust manifold gasket today and the guy had two supposedly different ones for X20XEV. Said that there was a change in type of gaskets from year 98 on. Mine's mini f/l june 98 and don't have a clue what this gasket looks like.
Anyone have an idea?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDC won't eject cartidge
« on: 23 January 2013, 21:22:57 »
Hy guys, I have this problem coming around for a few months now. HU is CCR600 with cdc cartridge for 6 discs. For example....started the car, put full cartridge in and it does it's work nicely till I turn the car off. After that it plays only the cd played last, won't change it, displays CDC ERROR, won't play unless I turn HU on/off few times and usually it doesn't eject cartridge for all day.
I know it's old and slowly going out but is there anything I can do to make it last longer? Stripping cdc down, clean it and put some grease onto mechanism?

General Car Chat / Finally snow
« on: 15 January 2013, 18:45:00 »
....yesterday morning got 10 inches of snow, beautyful too see it after a long time

photo taken yesterday at 7:00 am. Another 10 inches of snow came today when returning from work. Got caught in winter storm and didn't even believe I'll be getting home today with omega but it was a nice drive, all that slipping of car's rear end....was controlable, it handled at least as good as many front W/D I had before and much better than e36 I owned many years before.
After 40 miles of really sh...y road conditions and average speed 30 mph, came home to find last piece of road, quarter of a mile long full of snow, no one drove there today so I gave it a go. I was positively surprised when omega managed to handle that last snow. Unloaded, but with good winter tyres bought last year ,omega did good job today. See for yourself  the amount of snow she went trough

Snow in every part of omega  ;D after getting home

Expecting even more snow tomorrow

Omega General Help / Exhaust manifold 4 pot
« on: 21 November 2012, 19:49:34 »
Evening guys, I thought car has some noisy tappets issue but found exhaust manifold leaking. It gets better when engine warms up but it's calling for replacement.
I wouldn't like welding it couse that's just a temporary solution.
New part costs 170 euros here so....what would be suitable price for a good 2nd hand manifold?
Thanks in advance, Stan

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / MID died
« on: 07 November 2012, 16:15:31 »
Hi guys, went outside before, started the car, everything was fine, put my kids to their seats and MID wasn't working anymore suddenly. It was fine before all bulbs and dots working, now it's dead.
Is there a fuse for MID or could it be connector's fault?
Thanks in advance guys

Hi guys, after a while....

changed three doors, donor car passenger door is going to be repainted due to some rust

I had some issues with rewireing driver's door (different connector)

swapped summer tyres for winter tyres (expecting snow on saturday), changed oil, filter and coolant for nice fresh gayish pinky one

she's prepared for winter with rust free doors

and here are some photos of final result with new  doors and polished left side

General Car Chat / Bad day...
« on: 11 September 2012, 15:52:47 »
....an older man decided to add some extras to my omega today

Though I wasn't there when it happened, he called the police, report damage and left me a notice with his phone number and name.
That shocked me even more then a sight of damage on the omega. I hope insurance will cover the damage on my old lady, she really didn't deserve it  :'(

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / A job for today
« on: 07 September 2012, 05:05:54 »
I had some time this night while at work to read ABS/TC lights problems in many many treads on forum here. I noticed a suggestion to check break light bulbs too, don't know why but it seems connected somehow.....in a way.
See, today as many times before, ABS light turned on few seconds after engine started, it was on till I restarted the car again then went off for some 20 min and all over again.
Did anyone have this symptoms when ABS ECU was fubar :
(ALWAYS) cassette deck stops working when ABS light turns on
(SOMETIMES) when pressing brake pedal ABS light goes out
(ALWAYS) when ABS light is on, windows won't work, vent isn't working, all gauges down, comp tells me I have for 25 miles fule only and
All the dashboard seeems to get extra brightness
THIS led me to conclusion something else could be wrong beside ABS ECU
When I checked voltage supply I got very confuding readings - no abs light 14 - 14,1V....abs light on 17,3 - 17,5V
Also lights on the dasboard are flashing a bit - a sign that ABS light will apear
Did anyone with fubar abs ecu experience all of this symptoms? It becomes a bit frustrating now and would like to sort this out. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions guys
