Omega General Help / Slight missfire on cold startup
« on: 13 October 2014, 10:03:29 »
Hi guys, miggy developed a slight missfire when cold, in cold mornings mostly, until I rew it up two/three times to 2000 rpm. Anyway it's anoying. Sounds like it runs on three pots, took the spark plugs out today - all fine, done only 10.000 on them, no oil in plug wells, no sign of corrosion on plugs or on pistons as far as I could see. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Stan

Omega General Help / Cold coolant system pressure
« on: 01 October 2014, 18:04:04 »
Evening guys, I've done some oil change on coworker's clit last sunday and while taking a sample of coolant to determine it's freezing point I expected some hissing or vacuum at least when opening the cap - but nothing. Well that's logical because engine was cold..even if it was a renault....
So I did the same on my omega few minutes ago, note she wasn't running for two days now and here is what happened

youtube.com/watch?v=NuorLD5oYdc ,

Why is there still a pressure in the system? She has a small coolant leak, no mayo in it .

Just noticed link doesn't work, sory guys, I forgot how to paste it.

General Car Chat / Hit the dog...
« on: 13 July 2014, 07:21:48 »
Yes, I hit the dog last night with my omega, the dog lives - at least it did when it ran away a bit disorientated.
Went from work last night and noticed a smaller dog crossing the road....and when I thought "Ok this one is safe", a golden retriever jumped in front of me driving. Omega went straight into dive like a snow  plow, but I couldn't help.
It is strange that nothing happened for more than three years and now, now when I bought all the things to sort the rust out this summer....nah, not worth trying to explain  >:(

Omega General Help / Coolant bottle pressure
« on: 01 April 2014, 11:57:56 »
Hi guys, my omega had a severe radiator leak but that's fixed after replacing the radiator...almost  :-[ I need to top the coolant up every let's say 1500 miles which is not so bad comparing to how it was. The point is there's no sign of coolant leak under the car and when I open coolant bottle cap there's a lot of hissing and the pressure's coming out of it when engine is cold, even after all night. Is that amount of pressure in cooling system normal or is there maybe head gasket on it'way...? And a bit of oil is leaking - seems from crank seal.
Thanks Stan

General Car Chat / Anyone tried this stuff?
« on: 17 March 2014, 09:35:12 »
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QUIKSTEEL-THERMOSTEEL-HIGH-TEMP-METAL-REPAIR-WELD-GREAT-STRENGTH-/121278008494.

Would it be ok to give it a try on exhaust manifold crack? I got used manifold last year from an OOF member, in good  condition, but it lasted for only a few months. Welding it again, as the previous one was, doesn't seem to fix a problem for a long time, esp. with all the work included to take it off.
Thanks, Stan

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / MAF question
« on: 25 February 2014, 10:47:18 »
Hi guys, I would need to know if the MAF from x20xev Vectra is the same as in x20xev Omega. My omega has some issues with acceleration and stalling - I would like to try to cure that with some good used parts. No codes present.
Thanks in advance, Stan

Omega General Help / Stalling
« on: 06 February 2014, 13:17:07 »
Well almost guys, when I start the engine, it idles fine for approx 5 minutes (more or less), then suddenly it wants to stall, rpm drop to 500 but then rise to 800 and it idles fine again.
When driving, it runs fine again, except for when changing gears up and pressing gas pedal - feels like engine is braking for a second, accelerates with a delay and it doesn't matter if I floor it or just press it like on sunday drive.
IACV and throtle body cleaned twice - made no difference.
EML not on, only fault codes stored are 0130 and 0560 due to poor battery that was replaced three days ago.
Oil changed every 7000km, filter too, air filter clean as new, spark plugs done 5000 km.
I'm buffled, really guys  :-\

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Bluetooth handsfree set
« on: 13 January 2014, 15:44:28 »
I've bought a bluetooth handsfree phone set in Lidl - really cheap, working nice, needs to be plugged into ashtray socket.
Does anyone know if there is 12V voltage in original phone set/holder for CCR600? Wires and holder are now hidden under passenger's seat and I'd like to know if I could use that somehow for voltage supply for bluetooth set instead of having ashtray open all the time.

Thanks, Stan
