Title: Weird Goings on Traction Control light on

It rained right ? Alot.

I got in my 3.2 MV6 to drive the 72 miles to work and it was fine (well drizzly) for 3 miles, until i reached the local bypass.  Then traction control light comes on, car starts to limp.  Turned off and turned car off and then on, and it cleared it, but it was misfiring like only vauxhalls do and wouldn't pull more than 3500 rpm.  Got almost home and traction control light came on. Again turned it off and back on and it was okay ish.
Went in my wife car.
Got home 12 hours later and had a look.  No faults, No codes even. Runs fine. It's been sitting in the sun all day. Went for a little drive and its fine.

Check the sound deadening under the scuttle, it's probably soaked. This makes a lovely reservoir to drip water into the plug wells(especially on the N/S) which makes a proper mess of the coil/spark plug join and the plugs/coilpack themselves.


So you dry the plug wells, replace the plugs and inspect the coilpacks. Removing the deadening and sealing the scuttle better is a good idea.

When the TC is getting a pasting, it firstly cuts the fuel and then, if you're still trying, it brakes the rear wheels to stop them slipping.

First thing would be to read the manual as it explains how the system works.
Second would be to understand that after a dry spell, tarmac can become as bad as black ice when it rains.
Thirdly fit some decent tyres, with tread as either you have shit tyres or the inside edges are bald because the geometry is screwy.

Or the TC/abs ECU is about to die,,, and I just happen to have one in stock, complete with pump.

Meant to reply.  All seems fine now. I left it to dry and have done 1300 miles since then, (and treated it by changing the oil)
