Title: Beijing Daxing airport

Anyone else been following this huge project?

It will open in Autumn.

You'd think that the climate change emergency mob would have flown out there to lay down in front of the bulldozers.  ::)

I hope they have better luck with their construction schedule than Berlin's Brandenburg Airport:

"Originally planned to open in October 2011, the airport has encountered a series of delays and cost overruns. These were due to poor construction planning, execution, management, as well as corruption."

They reckon it might open in 2020 or 2021.  :o

Infrastructure projects out there are just on a different scale, a few years ago I flew into Chengdu - a regional airport I'd never heard of before the company put me on the flight. Turns out it handles a similar number of passengers to Newark or JFK!

Still, I suppose when you aren't burdened by tedious things like the legal or property rights of your citizens, its easy to build em big!

A lot of things in China are BIG. Lot of people in detention centres, lot of people, lot of new cities and so on.
