This happened to mine. Original VX part. Only done about 135k  :). Flywheel was very worn. (to much play) Think this had something to do with it. Also had trouble changing from 1st to 2nd. put second hand box in new clutch and a flywheel from a 65k engine.
Still a bit clunky from 1st to second but much better than before.

Omega General Help / Starting issues part 2
« on: 17 July 2011, 12:39:37 »
After last fridays struggling to start after turning engine off for a few minutes. Turning over but not firing up. Took about 6-8 goes before she started.

Been ok since untill today.. just popped out to shop and when i returned she stalled on me, i was just pulling in to my drive (lucky or what) had to push her the last 10 feet.. She just wouldnt start. left her for 10 minutes then she started??????

Ive done the pedal trick and codes 0420 ... 0335 came up. These codes were when she did start.

ive ordered a new crank sensor (did it sat morning) as an earlier post points towards this.

have i got it right????

Started first turn this morning . checked battery terminals and all connections. no faults coming up with the pedal trick  :-?. Could be crank sensor. Still on original (155k) so far.
If it is the crank sensor dying on me would it store a fault? or would it only show the fault when it goes completely?

Thanks for the quick reply Rob.. Are they easy to get off or has the rad got to come out :(.  Think one is just jammed by something as it turns for about an inch then stops (both directions)

Mark

Just a word of warning Mark (you probably know anyway) but the cooling fans can cut in at anytime, even with ignition off, so ensure you either disconnect the battery (pref) or ensure the engine is stone cold before prodding around.  :y

Very good advice Thank you :y

Is it possible to unplug the jammed fan so i dont overload the motor. Cant get time to fix it till the weekend?

Had my air con regassed last week. Superb job by a local firm, came to me at home as well.
Anyway, they noticed that one of my fans at the front of the radiator (the right hand one)was difficult to turn by hand. The left one was fine and kicks in when the air con is on (nice and cold now).

Should the right hand fan turn easily? it seems to be jammed on something. What is it there for?

Thanks in advance

Yes it is.. Nice easy job.. drain plug at the bottom (back edge of the box) and filler/level plug half way up the drivers side. Use genuine VX fully synthetic. not to dear. About £5 a litre. you need 2 bottles, takes about 1 and a half litres. Wear old clothes because it stinks to high heaven. Do a full change rather than a top up, these fliuds dont like being mixed with what ever is in yours.

Hope this helps :y

Omega General Help / Re: Handbrake spring "pins"
« on: 25 June 2011, 22:54:01 »
Try ebay. i got a full set of springs, pins and clips for the rear shoes on the omega for around a tenner about a year ago. VX will be expensive and probably take ages. :y
