What has happened to the drive? What is the fault?

It dropped from a unit and then when trying to boot up it started beeping, splash screen lenovo comes up then get the black screen with message check cable connection pxe mof exiting intel, then boot option comes up with hard drive and pci lan atheros boot agent.

If i boot from hard drive: tsstcorp cddvdw sn-208ab it just loops in same pattern. If i go to app menu then set up it says next to hard disk: not installed. Also under set up then security it says no hdd detected

I took bottom cover off and only vosible damage i see is the little round battery holder seems to be hanging out.

Tried takind hard disk out and reseating, no difference.

Obviously thinking disc isperhaps damaged or imternal damage somewhere.

Thanks

Andrew

What actually fell....?

A hard drive or a PC/Laptop...

A hard drive is part of a PC/Laptop...

It sounds to me like there is a problem in the BIOS and may just need a reset....

You can buy a SATA to USB cable, but you need to make sure the USB port is capable of producing enough power to supply the HDD...

So the drive is trashed. Are you hoping to get data off it, as you'd be much better restoring from a backup.

If you are hoping to recover some files, the adaptor will depend on the host you are going to use.
