Cisco IP phone bits
« on: 23 April 2014, 19:57:29 »

I know there are a few IT peeps here. Anyone throwing out and Cisco IP phones or PSUs (or POE capable switches), that I could borrow for a few weeks?

I need to do some testing for bro to see if I can come up with something to meet his needs (or prove to him that his current old Norstars are better suited  :-X).

Got a BT Remote Office kicking around somewhere still boxed. Never realy had much to do with them so knowledge is limited but they did Voip plus some other clever data stuff, probably old hat now, not sure if they where Kilo / Megastreamed though or would work off normal Asdl?, any good?

No thanks, he has some very specific requirements in mind.  Only Cisco IP phones are notoriously shitty to set up (when not using CUCM (which itself is a pig to set up when I last touched it (when it ran under Windows 2000)))

The Cisco IP phones were a horrible product and very 'iffy' even when working, used to have a few but long since binned

Any more brackets and that sentence would probably be valid Lisp ;D

The Cisco ones are the preferred device in this instance due to rock solid reliability (when set up, and newer ones even follow some of the standards!), and because customers will see them, and quality branded stuff is what they expect to see, hence all the Sony TV shite hanging on the walls that customers may see.

The other reason is my eldest bro sometimes gets a bit "tired" with people on the phone, and these are about the strongest you can get ;D
