Ah, driving is so much more relaxed now I’m reformed. 

I thought they'd been muck spreading on the fields, but I think the smell might by YZ's bullshit

I was reformed, as I sat behind the GLA all the way. Totally reformed. A new me.

Years ago it used to be normal practice when coming up  behind someone you wanted to get past, to give a quick non aggressive flash of the headlights, and more often than not they would move out of the way to let you past.
Do that these days, and someone might just force you off the road and stab you. 

Many years ago I was travelling up the chalk hills on the M40 when I came up behind a Vauxhall Senator in lane 3. It sat in lane 3 for some time so as I approached I gave a quick flash of my headlights. The Senator moved in to lane 2 so as I passed it I gave a two tone horn thank you and raised my hand as I passed. He responded with a two tone horn acknowledgment…… except his horns were a Police siren.    He did pull me over and thankfully he was an old school copper who just gave me a lecture and a warning about my speed, but with a grin on his face.
As we parted, he said “If sir would please accelerate hard on the hard shoulder before rejoining the motorway that would be good, but given the way you drive that shouldn’t be a problem to you”. 
I’ll never forget that, and what a decent chap.

At best they will either flick you the V, or refuse to get in. Or both.

If they want to be ignorant, obnoxious knobjockeys, then let them, and undertake them as safely as possible.

Undertaking is only considered dangerous, and therefore illegal, if you repeatedly weave in and out of the traffic in a erratic manner.

In short, pass on the left without dwadling, dithering or speeding and stay in the left lane for as long as physically possible without tailgating the vehicle in front.

Getting all pissed off about it isn't a solution to anything.

I was in no hurry, so was happy to make him feel a little prick, assuming he even used his mirrors - they might be an optional extra

Had I been in a hurry, I would have nipped up the inside when possible, or gone up an slip road, and rejoined.

It's not a question of being in a hurry or not. You either go past or hang back. Getting pissed off isn't a solution.

The news that there were another 534 yesterday ........

I was just reading that around 6000 migrants so far have crossed the water this year alone, with the 534 you mentioned being the highest in one day.
What the hell is wrong with this country, is nobody running it anymore.
