Hi,

Looking for some advice in selling some old Omega B bits. I had a Omega B some years ago and collected a box of bits I never got around to fitting and then remembered this forum. I would list the bits on the forum but I don't have a high enough post count to list them. Is there another place on Facebook or somewhere I can list them, other than individually on eBay..... don't trust ebay now as a seller so would like to avoid. Any help would be appreciated.

« on: 07 October 2009, 08:37:43 »

Omega General Help / Clutch release bearing type sound
« on: 16 September 2009, 01:31:26 »
Just a quick question I hope, but when I stamp my foot on the accelerator I can hear what sounds like some worn clutch release bearings, its an autobox so I guess there's no such thing. Has anyone got any idea where its coming from, I'm 100% sure is coming from the gearbox since I can hear some clicks outside when I'm driving with the window down.

I recently changed the autobox fluid, filter and topped it up recently, if that helps?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Rear Suspension Donut Bush Question
« on: 17 August 2009, 13:30:13 »
I have a question I hope some one might know the answer to. I'm planning to replace the rear donut bushes on my mig and I've seen on the EPC that there are different types of bushes (standard, patrol car, etc.).

My question is whats the difference between the patrol car one and the standard, because I read about the hassle of using carlton bushes to firm up the ride but they dont fit correctly..... could the patrol car ones not do the job as well, instead of using the standard ones???

Omega General Help / Leaking gearbox selector
« on: 10 August 2009, 10:35:42 »
Hey campers, can anyone tell me if they have heard or know if the gearbox selector seal can leak transmission fluid?

I changed my crank sensor yesterday and noticed that the gearbox sump was covered with transmission fluid which I traced to where the gearbox selector enters the transmission, do these things normally go or am I just out of luck?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Bosal exhaust question
« on: 18 May 2009, 13:48:54 »
Ok, I've read the various comments about exhausts and stuff, but has anyone bought a Bosal back box part number 185-215, can anyone tell me if they have chrome tips on it, parts guy told me there are two types of bosal parts, cheap and standard, he says standard (185-215) has chrome tips. Is this right?

Omega General Help / Core plug replacement
« on: 28 March 2009, 23:29:30 »
Is there a way of replacing the core plugs on the head? I took my rear cam cover off looking for a leak and seen there was some coolant residue coming from one of the two plugs that are near where the timing belt tensioners are attached. Can these be replaced or do I need to remove the head and get an engineering company to replace them?

Omega General Help / Cam position when removing head?
« on: 26 March 2009, 11:32:15 »
Looking for some technical info from anyone who has removed one of the Omega Heads before.

Anyway I've got a water leak coming from the side of the block on my drivers side head, I've added a dye to my coolant to find the leak and its definitely coming from the HG.

Anyway I have all the bits I need to remove it and I've got my paynes manual for instructions. I know that the exhaust cam has to be removed before I can access all the head bolts.

The Haynes manual says the engine should be 60o BTDC so that none of the valves are being pressed and the cam bearings (?) are not gonna be put under strain when unscrewing the bolts keeping them in position.

I also found out that I need to remove all four cam sprockets to remove the rear timing belt cover.

So my questions,  how do you make sure you cams don’t move when you remove the sprockets and where is 60o BTDC in relation to TDC?

Any help would be great, thanks.

After some searching around and using the power of UV and some coolant dye I think I've managed to find my leak, it looks like the thermostat seal is away again, even after using grey sealant as well.

Anyway I heard that there was two types of thermostat seal, a thin crappy one that VX supplies which is the one I fitted, which is leaking again, and a thicker multi level seal that’s a much better seal and shouldn’t give any problems.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the thicker one, I've tried VX but the only seem to supply the one type, the thin cheap one?

Hi does anyone know where the core plugs are on the V6 heads? Does anyone have any pictures of where their located?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Is my HG leaking?
« on: 21 February 2009, 17:54:24 »
Ok, I've been trying to sort a coolant leak I've developed for a while, I changed my water pump seal, but I found that the bottom of my alternator had coolant drops on it.

Anyway I removed all the assorted pipes, air ducting, including my alternator to find out the source of the leak and I think my HG is leaking. Would really appreciate anyone's expertise on this  :(

I have a question I hope someone can give me some info on. I notice that when I switch on my rear demister my aircon goes slower, or when I switch on my hazard warning lights my inside lights start to flash as well, not really a problem, its not really that noticeable.

Anyway I took my car to Halfords who have a bosch battery tester and it reports that the battery is only 45% serviceable and should be replaced.

But the voltage given with my own volt meter reads 12.87 volts. Does my battery need replaced?
