Whilst having a look at front geometry (too much negative camber, which causes it to tramline/bumpsteer a lot) and fitting new Lotus spec top mount washers to stiffen it up a bit, it was also pointed out that the idler arm 9095731 had a lot of play in it. When we got it off, it looks ok so it must be that the rubber bush has gone soft.  Of course a new part is NLS, so I ordered a Mevotech one (MS50901) on Thursday from Rock Auto (Cadillac Catera part) and it arrived at 12.30 on Monday £67 landed total.  In fact from the Rock Auto site also listed a Lemforder alternative (1492701), and it turns out they are available from Nottingham for £58 :-[.  New one is now fitted and seems better than the old one in terms of vertical play, which should help the bumpsteer. Now just waiting for new front discs and pads and I'll be able to give it a try. :)

Spotted some flowers and balloon going through the office today (maybe yesterday, it's been a long week) made me wonder if word had gotten round.  :y

After chopping the rot out of the spare wheel well, welded new metal in.

Im not the worlds neatest welder, but I think a few coats of paint, will make a welder what he aint.

As Im a half crippled old fart, I was knackered when I finished, but hope to paint it and tidy up underneath tomorrow.
Then the search goes on for any more rust to chop out. Sometimes not sure why I bother, but it has to be better than sitting indoors watching dickheads real deal and other assorted shite.

Further progress has been made.
Welded area painted, but not happy with it as I had almost run out of paint, so will probably do it again.

Sill covers removed. Found flaky paint and surface rust, but nothing horrific. ground surface rust off, applied Bilthamber Hydrate 80 all over, sprayed Supertrol in all the drain holes, cavities etc. Then sprayed the affected areas with stone chip.

Im pretty confident that will hold the rust back for years to come.
Cant refit the plastics due to rain, so decided to give them a coat of paint and a couple of coats of lacquer.

More rain predicted tomorrow and back on nights for five nights from tomorrow night, so probably this time next week before I have a chance to refit the plastics.

Don't use the Mig for that sort of thing. I can borrow a van from work for that.
