Kevin – I’m sure it will be over and I am aware that it’s not legal. On one hand I would be stupid to take ca 4t and think that Vectra brakes can make it (no way), but on the other hand I’ve seen so many AA Vans pulling big cars on dolly trailer, like omega for example. They put an AA van number plates on the back of the towed car so original plates are covered. Doesn’t sound right.
Mark – this price sound right. What keyword should I look for? “Transport company” is very wide and I am sure there will be many that are not towing cars.
I have passed my Driving License on 30.11.1997…damn. One year earlier and I could be towing cars myself  ;)
Thanks

They do, but only to recover them to safety in an emergency (they will transfer you to a Relay truck for significant distances), and only for cars that are taxed and MOT'ed. Also, an empty van has plenty of braking performance in reserve and generally a much higher train weight than a car.

Kevin

I'm pretty sure that their big dollies have over run brakes on them.

Having read the title, I could then stop reading as soon as I saw 'her'

No sentence in the world contains both logic & her  ;)  ;)  ;)  ;)

Unfortunately, with the family I have (needing seperate sleeping area's for the two kids cause they don't seem to be able to sleep if within sight of each other) its not going to be a cheapo van lol. .......

Buy an awning! The 'good' kid(s) can sleep in the 'van, the 'naughty' kids can sleep in the (inner tent in the) awning!  :y  :y  :y

Only useful if the awning contained a strong cage :P

Voila

Good little van I think

12N is usefull - keeps your fridge cold, not bad to fit.

Need 240V or gas for the fridge when parked

Towing mirrors are essential

PFL - Milenco clamped ones fit

Leisure battery - yes deep cycle

12N is essential! ;)  That's the black one that does the lighting on the back of your caravan. 12S is the grey plug 7 socket that does the fridge & charging of the above leisure battery.

old corsa failed on rear wheel bearing... they wanted 130 to replace it (just one)...

not bad considering i changed them prior to the mot & when i confronted them over it & mentioned vosa... it suddenly passed!

if the air freshner is in the window, if its obstructing any of the wiped view from  the drivers pov, it will fail... i guess the tester is being anal then and not giving leway about it... (mine just passed with a dangler from the rear view mirror)

Only take about 20 mins to do a rear bearing on the older Corsas.

The common fault was in-correct tightening of the hub nut (fit the road wheel and nip the castleated nut up until there is no detectable play).

exactly! only reason i took it to that garage was i had a track day next day so needed it sorting! i'd done all the bearings, brakes, everything! i guess they just thought, ooooh, modofied corsa, lets make some money...

ad a good chuckle afterwards, but was a bit peeved when they tried fob me off...

Another reason to take your cars to an MOT station that doesn't do repairs. SWMBO's car had slight play in a rear bearing (FWD) that the tester just pointed out needed looking at. He passed the car & I sorted the bearing (read the manual to see how I should have preloaded the new bearing earlier in the year, in the first place!  ::))
