£120 for a rubber sleeve,, anyone have any ideas ?
« on: 18 September 2008, 18:50:54 »

Whilst carrying out routine maintainence i was changing the plugs on the left hand bank when i came across the back spark plug turret with oil in it,, the cause was the rocker gasket,, cut to the chase the oil has broken down the rubber sleeve on the DIS pack and it fell apart when i touched it,, An easy replacement i thought they only push on,,, how wrong i was i visited vauxhall who advised that the £5 rubber sleeve were not listed but the could provide a whole new dis pack for £120 +VAT... bit expensive when my DIS pack is working fine even with the bodged repair job on the rubber sleeve.

Has anyone encountered this before, does anyone have any suggestions as to a solution to the issue.. does anyone have a knackered DIS pack they want to sell a rubber sleeve off.

Have a peek in car parts, bits for sale and wanted -- I am sure someone will be breaking a suitable donor  :y

Hi Steve,
Found exactly as you say. The silicone rubber insulators on the CPP units are not available as a separate part.

As I never throw anything away, I have a spare insulator from a duff CPP unit you can have.

PM your address or contact number and its yours.

I know you cna get the rubbers for the later smaller 4 pot engines, these might well fit (there is no official kit for any of the Omega engines)
