After brexit proper, possibly in two years time, we will still be using all of the EU regulatory bodies that we use now, i.e. agriculture, banking, the dreaded h&s...the works. All of the rules and regulations will remain the same until we rewrite the laws that are in place. Some estimates put this project at 15-20 years, so you could be right, Opti. I may not be around to see it.

But, on a pragmatic note, I don't think the process will affect people as much as has been mooted. If fact, if you don't watch the news, you may just be blissfully unaware that anything is happening. Plenty of money to be had by anyone involved in the process, of course.

Leaving the EU will be similar to working in a school. Every year, a new 'initiative', or two. Every year change the curriculum and move the grade boundaries. Each year add FGM, then CSE, then financial training, then extremist-spotting, then physical abuse. Feed them breakfast in case they didn't get any at home.
20 years ago KS1 children (aged 5-7) were measured by teacher assessments. The government noticed that the level of ability they showed at KS2 (8-11) didn't reconcile with the assessments, so they introduced exams about 10 years ago. Fair enough. Today wifey got told that KS2 SATS were being abandoned in favour of.......teacher assessments.
It never stops, and now there's no money either. Hey ho.

Today's storm in a teacup is over TM's A50 letter where she hints that if the EU aren't nice to us, then we may not be as cooperative in security matters in future. The lefty handwringers keep telling us that the EU will screw us, but whenever Ministers talk tough they get all upset!

Now that is THE big question now, that even us remainers must accept as a real possibility.  I think if it is not by 2019, it will happen in the not too distant future

Then everyone will be asking why we went through the hell and extortionate fees of Brexit

 Agreed, Lizzie. If the EU is likely to implode anyway we could have saved 60 billion quid. For the life of me I don't recall 'Shouty Farage'  mentioning  exit fees. It must have slipped his mind.
