Huge thanks to Mark DTM
« on: 22 April 2017, 16:05:39 »

Huge thanks again to Mark.

After I finished nights this morning I drove over and he has changed the rear crank seal on big blue. Also fixed a coolant and vac leak so fingers crossed she is full continent again!

Dropping gearboxes on the drive might not be the best of fun but quite doable. All done and dusted in a good mornings work.

That was nearly a mini meet, as I very nearly called him to see if he was about - I have something of his, he has something of mine that probably in his way ;D

Quite enjoyed it, it's not to bad a job to do on the drive, just over four hours.

I must say it does run sweetly

It is unbelievably smooth since It got new coil packs and plugs last week. Can barely tell it's running and it also seems to be good for approx an extra 75 odd miles a tankful too!

No idea how long mine took. I paid a local garage £200 cash to do it for me  ;-)

Extra 75 miles? I thought they only did 75 miles to a tank? :D :D

Yes, Every owner has been on here, the first now sadly departed, Paul, Rod, Bob, Ljay / Jimbob

It has always done about 280 between fillups, now seems to be the 350 mark, but more time needed to be sure.
Weve always known the coils were passed their best, but had been no reason to suspect they were causing an issue until it started running on 5, typically 100 miles away from tools and parts.

It'd not too hard to get 400miles out of a tank on the motorway; 350miles is perfectly normal.

Curious new coil packs give such a massive increase  :-\

Not sure on the age of mine, not changed since I've had the car. So quite possibly the original ones! Do they degrade that much?

I've not cracked 300 out of the 3.2 for past 24 months  ::)  ;D

240 so far and I'm not far off the red in current tank.
